MILE JEDINAK became Crystal Palace's first World Cup goal scorer after netting for Australia against Holland.
The Eagles captain scored with a penalty to give the Aussies a 2-1 lead but they ended up losing 3-2 to the Dutch.
Australia had lost to Chile in their first group game and their chances of progressing to the second round now appear to be over.
Arjen Robben put Holland into the lead in the 20th minute, but only seconds later, Tim Cahill equalised with a stunning volley for one of the finest-ever World Cup goals.
The Socceroos went ahead on 54 minutes through JEDINAK's spot-kick after Oliver Bozanic's cross hit the hand of Daryl Janmaat and the Palace midfielder fired into the left corner.
But Robin van Persie smashed home to level it at 2-2 four minutes afterwards. And in the 68th minute, Memphis Depay broke Australia's hearts with a 25-yard shot for the winner.
Australia face Spain in their third and final group match on Monday (5pm).
