Presumably we can also add a sell on clause of say 20-30%??

As good as MO is he never really connected with the fans. I always thought he never really wanted to be here. Didnt celebrate goals much with his team mates, all in all quite a strange personality. Sorry to see him go but we move on

Totally agree with this.

Yes and me.

Excellent player but strange guy, I spoke to him at a hotel pre match a little while ago, surreal experience

I’d like £50M (plus) but if it’s £35M then so be it. (Chelsea paying £53M for Lavia shows just how much we could’ve got for him!)

Is he a bit of a ‘One trick pony’ ??? Maybe, at the moment, but I think with the right manager and coaching they can help him realise his full potential.

He’s clearly had his head turned and wants to go, so get him sold and let’s move on. We unearthed gems like Olise & Eze only a couple of seasons ago so let’s hope we can find a few more.

Starting to really think there isn't any point in the Premier League for us. Why bother if we're just scouts for richer clubs? They've already got benches worth more than we've spent in 50 years.

I recently heard that MO is autistic which explains his personality (Ie interviews).

He’s a terrific player who’ll we miss. My view is that he’s not yet ready for a move to big club and it will slow his development. Should play another full season at Palace and then get the move.

He’ll warm the bench at Chelsea and gradually disappear which is a shame.

Will be sad to lose him, but Eze is a different level in my opinion.

Anyone know if it is likely there's a sell-on clause for Olise. I don't know much when it comes to contracts and with this 35m release clause does that mean any sell on clause if there is any is void. I'm really just reaching for any possibility of getting more for Olise, the fact he is going for only 35 given the inflated market and his talent just makes my stomach churn.

Agree with this.
How many think Eze, Anderson and Guehi will still be with us in two seasons’ time?
I’m not interested in ‘business models.’
We’ve already seen the average tenure of a football manager come down to around 18 months and we could soon be moving in that direction for the better players at clubs like ours.
There is no opportunity to build an affinity with a team or having the pleasure of seeing it emerge stronger to compete properly.
Leicester would not be given the opportunity to win the Premier League these days as the likes of Mahrez, Kante and Vardy would have been snapped up as soon as they threatened the ‘top’ teams even if it meant them sitting on the bench at their new clubs.
The essence of sport is competition and you take that away what are you left with?
You get the occasional shock result but e.g 19 times out of 20 Manchester City are going to beat Burnley.
You can’t say the same of the Championship where it’s very difficult to predict results which is more exciting even if the football isn’t as skilful.
We all know more or less who will be in the top 6 of the Premier League and also the most likely candidates to be relegated.
You couldn’t even begin to predict the Championship table with any degree of accuracy.
And no, I don’t want Palace back in the Championship, but I do believe the Premier League is becoming less and less competitive to its detriment.
A bloated top 6 with three players for every position hoovering up all the talent from the remaining clubs.
Rant over.

Whatever brave face we may attempt to put on, the fact is that we will miss Olise terribly, will struggle to replace him, have less chance of getting into the top half now he's gone and will likely play more prosaic football without him.

Whether it's a formal release clause like Olise has, or the end of a contract looming into view with a player that may not sign a new one, the effect is the same in respect of the 'buy young, develop and sell' model, in that we've no sooner got through the two or three year period in which we must show patience and understanding while the developing young player makes mistakes and is inconsistent, and then he's off.

Even if we somehow find a gem of similar potential to replace Olise, we will likely be back to square one in terms of the individual development process. The same will likely happen with Eze. Whatever money we get, we never get the benefit of the fully developed player.

Apologies if I have already posted this.

Last year the £35m release clause seemed sound business but this window the Saudis and Chelsea have sent the market crazy and I bet Parish is now regretting that figure as too low.

Whilst I am disappointed that Olise is going that is the nature of football I bet the Reading forum was full of the same comments when we nicked him off them.

My real disappointment is at the board the window closes in 2 weeks with no sign of a winger or a striker.

It's clear to me the only transfer money we have is when we sell a player.

I agree with this. The Saudi League and Chelsea (Part owned by Saudi’s) are causing chaos for everyone else. We will be fine without Wilf and Olise but football has really gone to the dogs.

I agree with you and was going to post similar.
Where I differ is, once they're gone I don't care. I'm Palace and if they do us over, it's a big 'do one' from me. I actually totally hope he fails - bad as that might sound. It is bad and uncharitable of me. His millions can cheer him up when his career is over by 30. Or he's playing in Turkey or some other sh1t league.
With Wilf we did fine out of it originally and similar with AWB, but consider that Olise is going for 10 mil less than AWB did. That is not great for Palace and feels like a let down.

Same here mate , they can f*** off and don't come back as far as im concerned . Bit like an ex girlfriend for me " can we still be friends " no f*** off and don't come back . Injury prone one trick pony .
