Ayew will always play ahead of Schlupp and rightly so. There will be a few tweaks to fir them all in once Olise if fit.

Basically, Hodgson has a lot of time for Ayew and this gives the Ghanaian a lot of confidence. It is no coincidence that Ayew's performances have improved since Roy's return in March. Ayew acknowledged his debt to Roy in his August POTM video. Whilst Olise will take over the RW spot in due course, I'd expect him to be coming off the bench for several games before starting. I ethink he'll replace Schlupp with Ayew switching to LW as was the case last season. Schlupp, of course had a midfield spot under Roy last season but I can't see him dislodging Lerma at present.

not Sure why(while Olise's out), we don't see a starting lineup of 4-3-3 with a frontline of Edouard - Mateta - Ayew. able to bring Schlupp and or JRS on when needed.

RH seems to like to Build into a game - and start steady, and win the Game in the last 30, thats why schlupp starts I reckon.

Just seen up to date premier league stats edouard second top goalscorers and mateta second on assists surely two up top from start worth a go I know we crumbled a bit on Saturday although dubious pen cost us but missing guehi and Lerma didn’t help.

I’m up for it, I always think whoever we have upfront on their own, whether it’s Edouard or Mateta, even going back to Benteke or Dwight Gayle, they look lost most of the time

I’m a fan of two up front, in particular if one forward runs near post and other to the far post.
It makes crosses so much more difficult to defend and potentially leads to more chances.
The modern game has largely eschewed two up front, concentrating more on possession in midfield and late runs into the box.
However , where Pep goes others tend to follow and it is evident that City are playing more directly now and often using Alvarez and Haaland together.
You could see others following this example.
With regard to Palace it may be difficult to accommodate two up front with Olise and Eze in the team.
It could restrict Eze to a wide left position and could also see us outnumbered in midfield.
I could still see a place for it during spells in games, depending upon how games are going.

I think in the injury situation, i dont think we have much choice if nobody has returned and Ayew is injured, i think 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 its got to be, i hate Eze playing wide, but needs must, i would play him on the Right and Rak-Sakyi playing Left, and swapping, i know it will be Schlupp. Feed the Beasts

Why cant we play a fluid 4-3-3

with one of the wide attackers dropping to the wing when play is on their side of the pitch - the other 2 taking up more traditional top two positions?

Eze would be the pivot in midfield behind them

Never gonna happen.

Olise at full back is potentially the worst idea I've ever heard.
With respect.

Mateta is garbage. Why are we trying so hard to fit him in. He's acceptable as an option off the bench in the last 15 to make a nuisance of himself. But Eduoard is smashing it this year...let's carry on as we are.

Two up front is an option, in my view only when Lerma is fit. Utilise both options. Look at the opposition. Unlikely to do it against Man City - unless you wanted to surprise them.
Change mid game if necessary. As long as the players know their roles in each. 5 subs should make this very possible.
