Why? Ipswich are by no means guaranteed promotion. even if they were they would be amongst the favourites to go down. Palace is a mid table established top division club. For someone who I'm guessing sees himself as a Palace fan/supporter you seem to have a low opinion of the club and its outside image.
Personally, if offered the job I believe someone like Mcenna would jump at it. Its more about who the club are interested in than who we can get. Its not as if Parish is trying to tempt Mourinho or Van Gaal is it?

My thinking is that we would probably only go for him if Ipswich get promoted, but if they do get promoted then I don’t think he would leave as he would have a massive point to prove and would also be rewarded well by Ipswich.

You are right about one thing, I do have a low opinion, but it’s mostly of a certain number of posters here. I find that many views are as old fashioned and intransigent as our manager, but hey we all have our own opinions.

You may be surprised to hear that I do not subscribe to the view that our ability to attract both players or managers to the club is down to its image, but I would also point out that it is an argument that is consistently peddled by posters here to explain why we went with Roy again and is why no one else would take the job.

For me it’s quite straightforward, I don’t want Roy at Palace because to me he is predictable and negative and I have always thought that, in fact, long before he came to Palace.

Fair enough. Not that predictable for Brentford though. Or any of the other teams we have either beaten or run very very close this season even with massive injury problems. I doubt Pep walked away from that 2 2 draw thinking wow, Roy and Palace are so predictable. And Klopp definitely didn't because he said what he was thinking. That his team were very lucky.
Think posters on here are old fashioned and intransigent? Newsflash matey, this message board is not just for the hip youngsters that think those with more experience than you translates into 'old fart'. I respect ALL opinions. The old fashioned ones as well as the immature ones like 'some' posters on here.

You obviously have no idea how much experience as you describe it I have but I’m not here to argue with you, I’m giving my opinion on what I see on the pitch and what people post on here. I guess you thought our tactical performance this evening was spot on.

Next manager ?
Someone that gets the best out of our players, particularly at home & playing with intent and with at least some entertainment. Is that too much to ask ???

Roy will be here until the summer, until Southgate leaves his England role having failed again at a big tournament with negative tactics. He will take over from Roy and then you really will have something to moan about. Negative footballl, VAR slowing killing the enjoyment (see rugby / TMO), and a new TV deal with Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday evening slots, only 2 or 3 games a week at 3.00pm on Saturday. It almost makes you wish for Championship football.

I am with you Gribbo.
I have two mates who have started watching National League football because it is more enjoyable.
Agreed - they won't see some amazing players but they won't see 22 cheats, toothless referees and a VAR, which is strangling the life out of football.
Sorry - gone off topic.
I want a Manager who will do what you say and bring just a little bit of joy back into my life.
If Southgate comes in - which I have posted many times before that he will, then I will give it another season and after that I think I may stop attending.
It is a pain to get there and when I do I do not enjoy myself any longer.
Roy has ruined things for me and there are no signs it is going to get better.

In my view Roy is not the best option to develop our young players.
It's not that he insists on awareness of team shape and defensive responsibility.
That's a prerequisite these days and, as good as his players are, even Pep won't select players if they don't demonstrate defensive awareness and team responsibilities.
However, from what I observe Roy's obsession with team shape and structure throws our game out of kilter so players don't get the opportunity to demonstrate what they are good at and what they have been selected for in the first place.
Ahamada may or may not be good enough.
But he's a box to box midfield player, not a shuttle up and down right winger.
Franca is not a winger.

Showing my age, in the old days and before subs,if a player was
injured he was sent out to play on the wing so you could still keep 11 on the field but keep the player out of harm's way so his injury wouldn't cost you.
Roy seems to treat these youngsters as those injured players stuck out on the wing (i.e not fully trusted).
Roy doesn't seem to trust these young players and this could inhibit their development.
Yes, I know Roy's had 50 years more experience than me and many of you have absolute faith in his judgement.

The other day I had the sheer pleasure of watching Derby v Peterborough (2-3). Peterborough,a young side played, with vim and vigour. They played with energy and pace, they were exciting and were really a delight to watch.

It left me pondering as to whether they would have performed as such with Mr Hodgson at the helm.

Did you really need to ponder that, Willo? Isn't the answer obvious?

To my miniscule mind it is obvious that this is a rhetorical question.

The only reason to keep him until the summer is the promise that we will not get a Forest reject to replace him in January and will get a proper manager (Paulo Fonseca out of contract and not signing a new one, cough) but it's so unfair on the fans to subject us all to months more of the dross we watched last night, it's just killing any optimism in the club. Even Parish looked bored last night when they showed him on TV so you'd hope he knows what we've watched this season and especially recently is unacceptable

Everton last night weren't amazing but they did create a lot more than us and actually looked like they knew what they were doing on the ball. Has anyone got a clue what our plan in possession is? It's like Bad Vieiraball

He’s also mine but I don’t think we would be of interest to him.

With our Irish connections , surely we can attract him
