the two paths are potentially so contrasting for the winners and runners up in our group (in favour of the runners up) that I could almost imagine both teams actively wanting to lose. The VAR World Cup was only occasionally interrupted by football in tonights game. I am afraid that all the technicalities of VAR could not prevent an incomprehensibly stupid decision to award Iran a pen late on. The poor ref how he made it to the end of the game I don't know - he had so many people haranging him on the pitch and in his ear and the players at their cheating worst. If he did get a grip and impose some discipline I expect he would only get more interruptions from Moscow control.

The VAR World Cup was only occasionally interrupted by football in tonights game.

I am afraid that all the technicalities of VAR could not prevent an incomprehensibly stupid decision to award Iran a pen late on.

The poor ref how he made it to the end of the game I don't know - he had so many people haranging him on the pitch and in his ear and the players at their cheating worst.

If he did get a grip and impose some discipline I expect he would only get more interruptions from Moscow control.

I don't think VAR referral system is the best. This is what I'd do: Each team gets 3 appeals. An upheld appeal and you maintain your 3. A rejected appeal and you lose one. When and if you have no appeals left, you can still appeal, but the appealing player gets booked and sin-binned for 15 minutes if it's not upheld. Any waving around of arms, arguing with the ref, or signaling of discontent constitutes an appeal. In other words: shut the f*** up and play. If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I don't think VAR referral system is the best. This is what I'd do:

Each team gets 3 appeals. An upheld appeal and you maintain your 3. A rejected appeal and you lose one.

When and if you have no appeals left, you can still appeal, but the appealing player gets booked and sin-binned for 15 minutes if it's not upheld.

Any waving around of arms, arguing with the ref, or signaling of discontent constitutes an appeal.

In other words: shut the f*** up and play.

However, HCs/Managers aren't allowed to challenge in the last five minutes of a half. MB allows the managers one or two a game and they preserve the challenge if they are correct. That is the NF? Challenge Flag system. However, HCs/Managers aren't allowed to challenge in the last five minutes of a half.
