Went to Cardiff mid to late eighties, about this time of year, pissed down and we lost 2-1.
got snotted by a Cardiff fan at the station and lost a tooth.
Was travelling on the train back to Eastleigh/ Portsmouth and there was the c*** that smacked me, on his own, fast asleep, mullered drunk. I removed his shoes , threw them out of the window, tied his hands together under his legs and lagged all over him wihout him waking up.

I remember us drawing Bighton in the cup , I recall travelling down to the Goldstone with my mate Matt ( where you gone mate????!!) , we were pretty young - about fifteen I think - we knew how important this game was - but I was still a little taken aback at just how many proper old school nutters were on that train from East Croydon - they certainly all came out for that game!! .We got off at Hove I think and ended up getting a bit lost - it was very eerie aroound there but we managed to get to the ground ok. I think we done em'2-1 with Wrighty and Brighty getting one apiece. We were kept on the terrace at the end and a continuous hail of shrapnel rained down on us in there . All the Palace boys were trying to smash the gates open to get to the get out at em'. What a night!!!

Also , I recall prob a few yrs on coming back from us beating QPR away ( Eddie terrorized tem that day - another Wrighty winner made by him ) - we got to Victoria - and Brighton were being escorted through by the Police . Well - it didn't seem that there were a lot of Palace in the station at first - but when Brighton came through everyone converged and went for em - the police just about prevented a riot . Me and Matt got caught right at the front of it - and i'll never forget an old Palace fella - prob about 40 -trying to push me into the Brighton mob.

What days lol!!!

dont remember it being that cold! chatterton scored for us, we had stones thrown at us when we got to the station, but we were very caring and threw them back, it may have even been the 70s come to think of it......someone will know.

I loved going by train and playing 10 card brag for 10p a game, soon mounted up in the pot and would pay for the day out if you won a couple of games. You would need a darn site more than 10p a game nowadays to pay for your day out

Oxford away on a wet weekday night in 1989, where we lost 1-0 to their only shot on goal. Having besieged their end for almost the entire match.

Same season, we lost to Swindon away in April. I was stuck in the home end, with two mates from work who were Swindon fans. I had to make a sharp exit after Perry Suckling (I think) saved a penalty, and I got a bit excited.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
