The 2-2 i remember was August 1969. We delayed our Holiday to go to see Man U. I was 13 you youngster.!!!!! Palace 13th 2017/18.

I probably only stood at the Whitehorse end 3 or 4 times when it was an open terrace. I do remember one of those games was the match in which Steve Kember made his debut. Back in the 60s before the AW stand was built you paid your 2/6 and had the choice of three terraces. Very often supporters would move from one end to the other to be behind the goal at which their team was attacking.

I probably only stood at the Whitehorse end 3 or 4 times when it was an open terrace. I do remember one of those games was the match in which Steve Kember made his debut.

Back in the 60s before the AW stand was built you paid your 2/6 and had the choice of three terraces. Very often supporters would move from one end to the other to be behind the goal at which their team was attacking.

I was at that game, behind the Whitehorse Lane goal,as I arrived at the last minute before kick-off and it was the nearest entrance. Couldn't believe it when we went 2 up, but kept quite as surrounded by Man U fans - remember one of them saying, after the second goal went in, "we can't lose to these w*****s". Great, game though, privilege to see Best, Law and Charlton in their prime. Strangely, I remember the score as 2-5, I'm getting old of course.

Saw Birchenall today on the TV at the Leicester v Burnley game !
Understand he works for the club in some capacity - He used to be the stadium announcer but I am not sure if he still fulfils this role.

Excellent, chance no. 6724 for me to post the picture of me playing at SP in the 1980 Croydon Schools' Cup Final, which my School Sylvan High beat our arch rivals Edenham 2-1. Excellent, chance no. 6724 for me to post the picture of me playing at SP in the 1980 Croydon Schools' Cup Final, which my School Sylvan High beat our arch rivals Edenham 2-1.

This was taken from the Main Stand of me in goal in front of the old Whitehorse Terrace.
