When I found out that an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey had come back to earth as something other than a white male I couldn't believe it either. I felt a panic attack coming on.

You appear to imagine that such a reference has simply emerged out of nowhere and that the topic in question has nothing to do with it. The fact of the matter is that it's the same melt down mentality of people flipping their wig over a black bond - because one hasn't come before - as it is a female dr who. Both are concerns of ultra sensitives. My comment is geared at the idea that a space alien character from another planet, able to assume human form, is from a narrative point of view, bound to express variety in various areas. Whether it's something done for said variety, to prop up a lagging series, or as some kind of equality angle, it will always get painted as solely the latter anyway, so they may as well get on with it and shut out the noise.

Lots of people who 'don't watch it' or 'don't give a toss' here but still decide to post about how silly and PC it is. If you don't watch it, who cares? Think its a good thing personally. At the end of the day, its a centuries old alien in a time machine. In a world where characters can and have changed gender in the past. No big deal. They have clearly chosen a very talented actress. Most fans of the show will like it. A few probably won't. The majority of people don't watch it and won't care- although maybe they might get a few more viewers next season.

The only criteria these days should be: "Can the new person get anywhere near the standards set by either Tom Baker or David Tennant?" They could be a hermaphrodite Inuit for all I care, as long as they are GOOD AT BEING THE DOCTOR. However, if the Doc is female then Missy needs to regenerate back into being The Master. They would also need to have a look at the roster of assistants to find room for a hetero male to remain genuinely inclusive.

I find it more amusing than anything else. Something to mock. But this sh1t is being served up for our kids. In truth, a series written by wimps attempting social engineering for children is fine.....It hits a demographic out there...That's ok.....What bothers me is where's the alternatives? As it's public money funding this where's the series with traditional masculine and feminine characters? Why do we get this one trick pony of progressivism from the entertainment industry......I wouldn't even notice but having two small youngsters now I'm starting to notice this stuff. There's a reason Game of Thrones is successful. All I see is this sea of beta males trying so desperately to be feminists that they might as well have falsettos and high heels and be done with it. I think the lure of having a lesbian relationship on screen will be too much for them. You know they are going to go there. Regardless....for me...The Doctor shouldn't find anything human sexual.....It really pissed me off when they started with that.

Some need help passing the hours I think. If we look for things to be offended by we'll find them. It will be half the picture though and it will pollute a realistic and relatable view of the world. Those drifting to the extremes of identity politics, both left and right, are forever banging two sides of the same drum. It's amusing to witness rather than get overly involved with.
