I am beginning to believe that Dougie Freedman has a totally misplaced belief in our Medical department. Not to worry if new arrivals are injury-prone, our team will soon sort it out.

Conor Wickham, Nathan Ferguson and now Dean Henderson - it defies logic.

If a keeper making his debut is crocked just by kicking the ball after 18 minutes and we have paid £15 million for him it defies common sense - especially when our crying need is for a striker and a ball holding midfield 'general'

The Manager has said (and we all know) our squad is light so why have we bought a totally unnecessary keeper?

Answers on the back of a fag packet please.

Fair to say I wasn't exactly thrilled with the Henderson signing when I felt as though we needed the money spent elsewhere.

However, calling him and Franca 'turkeys', 'crocks' and 'not fit for purpose ' is insanely harsh given that the season has barely started.

Maybe give them some time before we start slagging them off?

It’s not the players I m slagging off . I sincerely hope that neither of these lads have got long term problems, purely on terms of their personal welfare.
From the clubs point of view if these boys did have long term problems that would only compound any wasted money consideration.. My comment is on the basis ,that Palace have limited resources, allied to immediate need. We don’t know exactly what it cost to get these two ,but we are led to believe it is around £45 precious million. .The squad is pathetically thin, we needed people to hit the ground running, in which respect the two are not fit for purpose, as Lerma was, if only because once here and playing injuries will occur, as Lerma, presently proves.
Henderson’s injury record was well publicised, Francas not so, yet in all the lengthy negotiations to get him here no one noticed he was carrying what appears to be a quite serious problem. As said for players and club here’s hoping for a good outcome,
but with the clubs record on bringing in sick notes it’s perfectly right for Belfast ,and myself to bring this up,

This is the absolute crux of it. We should not have been even considering players who are not both:

1) Required due to a gaping hole in the squad.
2) Available for first team action immediately.

Instead we have bought two injured players and an average Arsenal reject who is likely to be our 4th best CH.

In red, you know this because? You have proof?

In Blue, he was injured, Chelsea knew it, did they even put a bid in for him? New 4 year deal, gives Palace wriggle room to flog him later next year, IF he stays fit. How many injuries has he had now with us playing for the French U21's?

Read it again eagle. Those are my hopes.

I agree, our record on buying players with known injury history is woeful when you consider our resources.

One wonders if our medical guys have relatives who are connected to agents

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

We're 6 games into the season? Olise also out long term injured, Eze was out for a year after doing his ACL. It happens.

Let's just give them a chance, if they end up like Ferguson I'll happily agree with you.

Henderson isnt £20m better than Johnstone.
To throw away that kind of money when the squad is crying out for reinforcements pretty much in every position is insane.

We do have a track record of shooting ourselves in the foot with injured players and chancing having one player in a position.

See Parish (Paraphrase slightly) the sun not coming up then a week later Benteke gimping himself.

Palace are so self destructive at times.

I’m not criticising the signing of Franca based on his injury history. But signing a player that comes pre injured with our budget and small squad seems a luxury we cannot afford.

However signing somebody who was injured for 4 months at the end of last season and then within 20 mins of his very first game is injured again…. calling them a crock/turkey seems very realistic……or maybe sicknote is more apt ? There is clearly something wrong with him physically…however.giving him some more extended time on the treatment table is the only option.

Am I the only one who doesn't particularly care how Henderson feels? I just care about the club and didn't think it was a worthwhile signing. I found it particularly galling that his replacement at Utd was 4-5 mil and a Turkish international. Also that de Gea was available on a free and looking for a club. We could have even treated Guaita better and talked him round into staying for one season.
To sum up: our transfer business was f***ing s***.

I'm still holding out hope that Franca isn't Ferguson 2.0.

Henderson is clearly a crock though. Baffling signing, and completely not surprising that he blew out his leg again. We'll be out of all cup competitions by the time he's fit again, if he's even able to return this season.

No idea what our players do for stretching and fitness, but whatever it is, they should immediately stop and do something else.
