Adapting to the pace and sheer skill prevalent in the PL is almost impossible for youngsters to cope with, no matter how good they appear in the Under 21s.

i have always argued that an Academy is appropriate for League One and the Championship. Prem clubs buy in proven talent- aged 21+.

but what would i know, i never even managed a medium-sized club.

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

The U21's were beaten 2-0 recently by AFC Wimbledon whom, I'm told, didn't field a full strength team.

Palace's starting line up included Ahamada, Ozoh, Franca and Ebiowei.

Ahamada doesn't look up to it based on what I've seen so far but is being selected ahead of the others.

Some of us bother to watch them Rachid, not just that night but other times ,certainly enough to know they all are clever and talented, but there physicality is not yet there enough to be thought consistent, their decision making tends to be caught up in narrow channels , making it easy for lower league players to read let alone Premier players to read. And although clever technically not good enough, first touches are not completely missing , but no where near consistent for the unforgiving Premier league. If you watch our under twenty ones in general they get away with poor control quiet a bit, won’t happen in the Premier.

Thank you for the insight. Gentleman.

Some of the youngsters may not be ready yet but sometime a harsh does of reality is what they need to spur them on.

With so many players out against City now is a good time to give a couple a try.

It's a free hit we are not expecting anything from the game, I don't mean wholesale changes but perhaps 1 or 2.

Following a punch-up last night, or rather assault on a referee, unbelievably by The President of the TFA, the entire Turkish league has been “suspended indefinitely”.
We could plead extenuating circumstances to the Prem, Wilf could take a few weeks leave and help us out over the Christmas period!
On a more serious note, although it was time for him to move on, it has become apparent these past weeks that we so do miss him. Regardless of his failings latterly with fitness and oft attitude, he was the one player who gave us that feeling of expectancy whenever he got the ball, as you nearly always could be certain something would happen when he played and received the ball... if only drawing a foul. His very presence could also draw a defence to create space. Even our current breed of starlets, injured of otherwise don’t raise the excitement to the same level as he once did. Pack your case Wilf !

Happy Christmas.

And we might also lose Schlupp to Ghana as well if he gets called up...

I think we might be forced to bring some of the youngsters that we've included in the squad this year into the first team and perhaps we might get a Zaha, AWB or Mitchell style impact from one of them, but having too many against someone like Man City... it'll be men versus boys.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

But Schlupp is no good anyway. I know that because I read it repeatedly on here

Unlikely to be called up, or play any further internationals as I read somewhere that he fell out with the management.

You may be right but I cant say I remember Roy ever giving academy starlets much of a chance. And perhaps he was right as none of our academy players who have moved on are playing in the PL.

That aside, I don't think any of us in our right mind would suggest throwing in several young players at the same time. However, I would like to think one or two might be worth a try, and it needs to be for more than the last few minutes e.g. David Ozoh against Liverpool.

But, as others have said, if our injury woes persist, and we fail to to get fresh blood in the transfer window, Roy may have no choice but to call on some academy players.

There are some who have considered the possibility of Mr Hodgson not being at the helm in January if results in December,as expected, are somewhat dire.
