The point of my post was not to pretend there are not underlying problems at the club.
I've felt this season that fans have become disillusioned and the connection with the club was to an extent in danger of being severed.
In my view this is partly attributable to the insipid home performance where we haven't competed.
Today was a throwback to the Palace we expect, competing for every ball, supporting each other and fighting for the cause.
If we can harness this spirit and get our better players fit and firing the mood of gloom will be lifted.

Rather than be pleased by a much better performance, against all the odds of injuries and an incompetent referee. You choose to once again repeat the same negative bilge.

Because they haven’t changed Painter. I said I was pleased by the performance and the ref was appalling. It is negative arm and I think that’s a reflection of the reality.

If you don’t like it fair enough, I’m sorry I haven’t posted to exactly match your mood.

Don’t do the usual melt thing of trying to have a go at another poster from the safety of your keyboard though. Your usual cowardly bilge.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

What hasn't changed? The performance was what we expect to see. Stuff going on in the background, shouldn't detract from a better effort all round.

In recent matches, we just haven't been getting the breaks.

But they will come.

I thought it was a vibrant showing by our lads against a team which, after this result, sits on top of the table.

Perhaps just a couple of tweaks will make things come good - more demonstrative on-field leadership from whoever is the skipper perhaps.

Roy is a very experienced manager so I have faith.

Good to see Mateta back on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Man U's home defeat today gave some perspective to our defeat on Wednesday. Bournemouth are a good side.

Right, so for absolute clarity, the performance was very admirable and much improved today. I thought we deserved something from that game certainly and we were robbed by the referee. I was inclined to believe Roy was losing interest in being employed here and the team reflected this, today suggested differently.

My negativity comes from the fact I think our team is both stretched and lacking in quality and we spent money on three players in the summer, none of whom play in our first team. Our manager is well equipped for making life difficult for far superior teams, as we saw today, but whilst points will be few and far between there we are also losing to all the teams around us.

The chairman has said we will look at ‘loans’ in the window despite the fact we are in ‘the mire’, to quote a certain journalist this week, and we have key players out injured with: City, BHA, Chelsea, Brentford and Arsenal to play in our next five fixtures. I can’t see any points there. We are dropping like a stone with very little beyond a bit more fighting spiritt, in one game which we still lost, to suggest this will not continue,

This is the reality as I see it, battling performances regardless of disgraceful referees are nothing without any result at the end of them and I fail to see us getting one anytime soon. By all means, put a silver lining in there if you can, offer a different perspective, I will warmly receive it. Don’t just dig out posters though, especially after a loss like today, for whatever motive inclines you toward such things.

I’d love Parish to say ‘we need the players now given our relegation battle, Doucoure is out and we still haven’t replaced Wilf so we will look to address this in the transfer window as we’re severely deficient in playing staff. We’re also planning hard to find a replacement for Roy at season end’ but I don’t see this happening, even if he has to say such things regardless of the situation. That doesn’t mean I’m convinced I’m correct, but am somewhat confident in that prediction.

We played well against a top side. Roy is doing a great job.

From the first minute of the game, The referee was a cv.nt. He bottled it, lost his composure , got intimidated by the atmosphere and lashed out ......the rest is history.

With respect when I left the ground I did not reflect on a "Better performance" but on the fact that we had been defeated yet AGAIN at home and had lost our previous 4 games at Selhurst Park, NOT forgetting the 0-0 draws before them.

We very nearly had three points there today ,even Klopp knew the game turned on the sending off, commentators all over the place have been saying we were the better team for a lot of that game, and so we were ,not the most attractive ,but the better team, as for all their class they couldn’t play until the sending off. I’m well proud of how they responded today. Not trying , how many more injuries will we get before people realise these lads are always trying beyond what’s good for them.

Luckily there are at least three worse teams than us in the league and we have so many players that will come back in 4/5 weeks just in time to save the season.

We all recognise that we are going backwards slowly, the squad is just too small. Whilst we need the new stand we need money for players as well, so it is over to the Board to find the funds asap

The complacency remains - at the moment we are heading for a proper relegation battle, whatever the cobblers about '3 worse teams in the league than us'.
Without stating the bleeding obvious, it is about results on the pitch and we ain't getting any, regardless of luck and now with a shrinking squad, thanks for all your support, btw Steve. Our complacent and disjointed ownership needs to come up with some action and big decisions quickly.
In all honesty, Mr Parish is the last person I'd have any confidence on those items.
When we are away next season at Preston next year with a team containing some academy players, other posters can look back perhaps with pride on yet another home defeat, where 'we played better' - look in tomorrow's paper.
