It's because people like you seem incapable of understanding that referendums have no legal status in the British system that I keep having to state the facts.

Parliament promised to implement the result and they have been trying to do just that.

They do though have other responsibilities to keep in mind, the most important of which is to always do what they think is in the county's best interests. If they think that leaving without a deal does not match that, then they must reject it. It's their duty.

If it upsets people like you then that's unfortunate but unavoidable.

Hats off. Your wind up credentials are now set in stone.

No wind up intended. It's the simple truth.

If you get wound up by the truth then I suggest that you calm down and try to look at those facts objectively.

I can assure you there are mill ponds that resemble maelstroms compared to my level of calmness.
Bad luck.
Try again.

And of course Labour opposed every proposal for the good of the country. No benefit for them at all. I see.

He is ignoring the "remainers" along with all those, like me, who treasure our system of democracy.

That's the biggest problem.

About time, he needs to think about the majority and do what he is doing with Brexit. He wanted a G E but all other parties are scared about losing there seats to a committed Brexit candidate. The country want out. Also when article 50 was invoked if a deal was not agreed we'd go WTO trade deal I thought and didn't a majority vote to invoke article 50 so the mps knew a no deal was possible!

That's good then. I always try to stay calm, often in the face of some quite objectionable comments.

Of all the many who take the opposite line to me you seem the most reasonable.

I am quite sure that over a pint or two we could find a workable compromise. Let's hope that common sense breaks out soon among our politicians.

We joined the EEC after a referendum.

Referendums have been part of European democracy for decades.

The UK has had 12 referendums....all agreed by parliament and acted upon by parliament....Many other European countries have them and act upon them.

When you continually hear someone state that huge massive decisions that alter the direction of a nation mean that no specific question should be asked of the population....because 'elites'.....Well...

You know what they are.

Labour under Corbyn are a significant part of the overall problem.

We are very badly served by both major parties right now.

I’m always up for a few pints and have no intention to insult you or anyone else.
It’s not so much that I take the opposite line as that I genuinely despise almost all politicians - anyway, where would the fun be if everyone agreed about everything?

Better, or worse, will always be a matter of opinion.

Finding a compromise which suits no-one 100% but most could live with is what is needed.

Which is what Parliament needs to do, and is trying to do.

Too many seem to think that a 52%:48% referendum result means that the view of the 48% can just be disregarded. That's as irresponsible as suggesting that the 52% ought to be disregarded or that all the 52% voted as they did for the same reasons and wanted the same kind of Brexit as Farage now wants.

To try and reconcile the various positions is Parliament's job and they have decided that the government's approach is not in our best interests. As they have the final word the government ought to abide by their decisions but are trying to find ways to avoid them.

This ought to be unacceptable to EVERYONE, whatever their personal opinion might be about Brexit.

Scenario.
The GE puts the Tories in by 1 seat.
They then vote by that 1 seat for a no deal.
Wissies happy as democracy is such.
Would you agree with that being fair.

Point of order - the referendum was whether to stay in.
