unfortunately it appears a bad grade 3 tear.

This can take up to 3 months to heal and with hamstring injuries these can't be rushed.

However, with his age and maybe sound treatment, or similar, speeding up recovery hopefully it will be less.

definitely out for minimum of 2 months IMHO.

Rak-Sakyi should get a chance to state his case in pre season now.

If we go looking for a replacement in the market then either he is not ready or not good enough to make the step up.

If it is Roy in charge I think it will be Ayew who starts in Olise’s position on the right.
This would mean Edouard (or a new striker) playing down the middle, but then we still look a bit threadbare if Zaha departs with a gap on the left.
We need to be careful about making sure we have the right resources.
We’re linked with Gray as a replacement from Zaha, for example, but a front 3 of Ayew, Edouard and Gray doesn’t inspire confidence.
I’ve no objection to Gray joining as a squad player, but wouldn’t want to rely on him as a starter.
JRS is likely to need another loan to develop and it may be too much to expect him to step in at this stage.
I know we’re in rumour season but it’s clear that there’s interest in Guehi, Anderson and Johnstone too.
We finished the season well giving reasons for optimism for the new season.
Let’s not let this optimism dissipate through a careless approach to planning around playing resources.

Possibly, but only if Zaha stays as I think Ayew has shown he's more effective on the left.

I don't honestly know what Olise was even doing playing for France U21s. Pretty pointless for someone of his calibre. Not saying he'd make the first team, but U21s doesn't mean much - not enough to get injured when you're a key player in a Premier League side. Obviously, I'm annoyed about this. I would say he'd be eligible for England but what's the point when you might get twenty minutes against Malta and never be picked again. Not like Southgate will ever drop Saka or Foden either - one of them will probably have to die before that happens.

Maguire died 2 years ago, no-one noticed . . .

Would anyone know if the club get any form of compensation from the French FA for the injury Olise picked playing for the U21s as he’s certainly won’t be playing in the early weeks of the new season.

Early weeks? He'll be lucky to be seen on the pitch by December with that injury & then fitness. As for your Q?, normally yes, but, things have changed, some people on here are saying we dont insure our players anymore?

There's some kind of deal between international sides and injuries but couldn't fully tell you how it works. In some cases, they have to pay wages if injured on international duty but I don't know if it covers all matches, or U21s.

Might not be our concern for too much longer if the rumours are true that Chelsea have triggered the 35mil release clause in his contract.

Crazy low release clause benefit of hindsight.
