Don't think I've seen that fast from an English bowler for a long time. It would be interesting to know if Malcolm got up to that speed....I know that Broad could bowl early nineties as a young man, but not for sustained periods.

It's a pity Jofra Archer has been missing. Olly Stone can be very quick too. I've enjoyed watching George Garton at Sussex - gets up to 93 mph and can be properly spiteful too.
Tymal Mills was seriously fast before his back problems.

It's a shame about Archer and Mills, sometimes the body can bowl that fast but isn't strong enough to do it, day in day out. Stone being a case in point as well as he's injured regularly as well.

Bowlers who can reach those speeds only have it for some years so if they also have accuracy and movement they are gold dust.

I know a lot of work is done protecting these bowlers but serious pace will always carry this risk. Garton is promising.....Fisher is as well and has been tried but neither have quite broken through.

I used to think Jamie Overton would make big waves but it never quite happened.

Old Trafford is normally a turner. Shane Warne used to love bowling there

True, it looks like Ali is their man then.

I'd bring in that youngster Rehan Ahmed.....talented.

One of the commentators said that Devon Malcom could bowl in the mid nineties but not consistently like Woody was

I don't blame him for the dismissal personally.

That was a complete lack of sportsmanship by Australia....the ball was dead, it just hadn't been called.

India wouldn't have done that.

At the very least you warn the batsman.

When is the ball 'dead'? At a push, the ball hit the stumps 4 1/2 seconds after it left Green's hand.

I agree that it was 'not cricket', but according to the laws of the game it was out. Bairstow left his crease. If Carey had fumbled the collection, would Bairstow have taken a run? Probably. In this case Carey took the opportunity to stump him. Very unsportingly as it appears that he didn't warn him about wandering out the crease, as is the accepted etiquette.

Also, don't think that India would not do it too. A certain Vinoo Mankad taught the Aussies a thing or two...

Oh, here [Link] 44-48 seconds. Slo-mo it.

The reason I say India wouldn't have done it was because I remember when they were on tour here last there was a controversial dismissal in a test and the Indians called the batsman back.

Obviously it matters what the character is of the senior players in the team. They didn't want to play outside of the spirit of the game.

I wanna see the leggie too but I don't think he's taken too many wickets for Leicestershire this season.

Me too, bat first on a good pitch and bowl last when its worn.

107-2 need a breakthrough.

They did say normally we probably would have, but with a lot of rain coming this is our best chance of forcing a result, at currently 171-3, it’s not looking good though, needed a few more early wickets
