This makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm ashamed to say it...but its gotten to the point where once I find out how far left-wing someone is, I have great difficulty taking them seriously or even associating with them. There's been a radical shift, the Democratic Party here in the States is becoming a thrall to the far left just as labour has become in the UK.

Look at this little treat here, this is the deputy chair of the Democratic party for goodness sake.

It wasn't like this ten years ago, Democratic members of congress, would denounce socialism just the same as all american congressman should denounce fringe beliefs on the left and right.

The future generations can just be bought and promised things by the left (writing checks they can't pay) and that will ultimately bring, as Alexis De Tocqueville wrote, the tyranny of the majority.

Its all going to hell isn't it?

Seconded.

I use to be able to identify with many democrats but their central messages have shifted so radically that many previous democrats don't really find themselves with a political home they feel comfortable with.

But isn't kind of that what you want - People not losing their jobs over their opinions. I kind of agree that this kind of attitude does step beyond the acceptable view, and move into the kind of territory that panders towards those who promote violence over political solutions.

Personally, I'd be wary about hiring the guy - dependent on his accademic record (its possible that he might actually be an exceptional professor - we should always be wary of damning anyone for just one or two stupid things they've said, esp in jest) - second chances etc.

That said, the bloke is a prick and its a f**king stupid thing to say.

Problem is, the Republicans in the US aren't exactly shifting into that middle ground the democrats are moving away from, but equally shifting into very dangerous ideological ground. The US really needs more political parties and a system that encourages people who aren't billionaires or backed by billionaires to run.

Politics needs reasonable parties, not ideologues. Without pragmatists, democracy becomes a form of tyranny by majority

You gotta love progressives and their confused brethren like Kermit.

So, it appears you believe out of the many hundreds, if not a thousand or more, of employees of New York Uni whom are either administrative, professors, lecturers, visiting lecturers, board members, fellows. other academics, trustees, etc, they must all be progressives and/or Democrats.

I take it all back from before; you are a real victim, of your own ludicrous and dopey thoughts

Look Kermit, I know it's tempting to start a kickstarter to raise funds for your second brain cell but even you should realise that staff are employed by boards and not all staff.

I know common sense doesn't mean much to Mr 'listen and believe' but I've presented the evidence and frankly you can go off and believe in fairies and right wing New York universities as much as you like.

It's kind of fun reading your posts in that sense.

"Oh s**t I've been elected, get me out of here".

Best thing for dealing with the loudmouth rhetoric junkies, is for them to have to try to deliver in a real world situation. It broke the SWP, it broke the BNP and UKIP - Issue politicians tend to be s**t at dealing with the day to day necessities of running the country, council etc.

Because you can't blame capitalists or the blacks, when dealing with allocation of budgets to different councils services.

Jamie, I agree with everything you say here, especially in regards to pragmatism and the need for more political parties is a very erudite observation. Sometimes the 60% solution is the best we can do as a society and the art of compromise is the one of finding that solution and living with it until the variables change.

The fact of the matter is groups like ANTIFA will always have fertile ground in the left because the centers of gravity for left-wing politics embrace collectivism, intersectionality and identity politics.

I don't believe the Republican Party here in the USA is actively supporting/endorsing groups that call for the overthrow of capitalism and democracy in this country. Do they do some moronic things and have some silly party lines such as their view on climate change? Absolutely, and they should be taken to task for such things. But I for one, cannont conflate the two, the vice-chair of the DNC is supporting ANTIFA - a group, that if sanctioned, would use violence as its means to take my assets and livelihood away from on the basis that I am in a white male, who has a white wife who lives a middle class lifestyle.

The icing on the cake for them would be that my voter registration card says "Republican", or NSDAP in their eyes.

The classical liberalism of FDR and Kennedy are dead and gone with this generation.

The guy incited violence with the white genocide comment, he says it was humour...and I normally I'd tend to believe that because it comes across as a sick joke.....but when it's seen with the Nevada shooting comments...perhaps not.

It's true that I'm against sacking people for opinions but incitement to violence is actually against American free speech laws itself...which is one of the most free in the world and something they should be justly proud of in my view.

I believe that people deserve second chances.....so if this power were in my hands I would have given him a severe warning and last chance.....if he had been warned after Nevada then that would have been too much.

But employing him? No way......You know.....the left are always pushing for diversity and I think in the educational institutions there is definitely an argument for a 'balancing' when it comes to political affiliations.....especially public institutions. The bias towards the left is ridiculously one sided in areas like humanities.

Usually I'd be against anything like that.....well, in reality I still am....because I always expect professionalism in education and for people not to overly politicise their practice....but having been a teacher I know that in reality that's not what happens over time....people are people.

The best people are fair and not partizan in professions....but that type of personality is rarer in today's polarised political environments.

Very true, loudmouth rhetoric is simple, one dimensional messaging, detached from the complexities of the real world. This is also why fringe nutters tend to gravitate to one another and what ever circus is in town - since normal every day people can only stomach so much of this kind of thing.

Struggling to disengage yourself from the barrel that you are sprawled over, I see. Should've take the advice given earlier.

"evidence" - You are a funny man I will give you that.
