Bexter,

Where do you live?

It's just I need a new telly and want to go through your personal belonging and find out everything about you.

You are obviously any easy target and like HMHS i'll be able to leave with what ever I like no problem.

Just so I'm not reported to the police, I am speaking hyperthetically.

Hmmm, seems to me a lot of people are saying burglars should be shot and people who shoot burglars should be set free?

If the government brought back the Death Penalty and said it would apply to all burglars I think most people would say it was a tad unfair.

I don't think the Judge would be able to say "Well you shouldn't have been there so you'll have to accept the consequences".

I do have a lot of sympathy for Tony Martin and think he has served long enough but you can't allow vigilantes to take control otherwise there would be kids being shot for scrumping apples.

The Death Penalty should be brought back for one thing only - people who don't indicate when they turn left at a roundabout.

For a man like Tony Martin(or anyone for that matter), being burgled 5 times must be very damaging. People breaking in to his house in the middle of night, he feels helpless to do anything about it. Each and everytime he wants to try and pluck up the courage to frighten the burglers off. He can;t though, instead everytime he lays in bed, pretends his asleep while all the belongings he has are taken. As already said he is lonely, no family or friends...all he has are his possesions which have been whittled down through these scum who break in.

Finally, he has had enough, next time i'll make sure i frighten them off. Sure enough he pulls a gun out, in his scared and frightened state he panics, he can't see a thing, all he knows is that he's being burgled and to him, his life is in danger. what would you do? you're already in a frail state having been burgled 5 times, this time though the burgler knows your not asleep. I'd shoot the theif aswell.

Tony Martin obviously didn't have the power or confidence to over power the burgler, Martin doesn't know what will happen if he tries. He has a gun, probably for show to frighten the burgler, rather than for actual use. How many more times does Martin just accept the fact he's going to be burgled next week?

Of course in a situation we all act differently, but i don't think any of us will ever be in a situation whereby we've been burgled 5 times before, we can't judge because we don't understand all the facts.

Finally, who is the real danger here? Tony Martin who is a loner, quiet man, keeps himself to himself, was put in Jail for defending his life and will probably come out of jail a broken man, who will never get out of bed again let alone chase a burgler. Or is it these scum who reduce an old man to to being so frightened and scared, that he took someones life so he could preserve his own and get jail for it.

i think you are on dodgy ground saying that it is as damaging as rape. and i don't believe in the death penalty for rape, burglary, or manslaughter, luckily for tony martin, not so luckily for fred barrass.

And the world is really going to miss that s***ty piece of lowlife, isn't it?

Tony Martin shot Barras in the back - what does that tell you? A really brave move by such a principled freedom fighter, if you believe the garbage the Daily Mail prints about him.

The reason this whole thing has been blown out of proportion is because a few right-wing has-beens like Norman Tebbit, Peter Hitchens and Ann Widdecombe have tried to manipulate this situation to being one of New Labour versus the People of Britain, one where criminals have more rights than victims, blah, blah, blah, which is a pathetic attempt to discredit the Government because it has slaughtered the right on everything it has said since 1994.

The amazing aspect of this is that the Judicial System and government are separate entities and the Government cannot dictate jail terms on convicted offenders like Tony Martin.

It's about time people woke up and confronted the real issues facing this country like terrorism, 17 year old girls being shot at parties and our stalling economy.

These points tell me that you haven't bothered to read the whole thread before you started spouting bollocks! This point has been covered already, again and again! IT WAS PITCH BLACK! And the reason this has been 'blown out of proportion' is because real people care, not only is the whole of Norfolk incensed at his treatment, the majority of good, law abiding people of this nation are!
It's about time YOU woke up and looked for those 'real issues' on threads elsewhere, you might just find them if you take half a second to look! This thread is about Tony Martin, don't f***ing contribute if it's not 'real' enough for you!

Haha! Is this the family of dole-bashing pikey criminals that tried to organise a pikey mafia type hit on Tony Martin and then told the whole country they'd done it? The very same folk that have constantly tried to turn their own son's death into financial gain through the tabloids and now by trying to sue Tony Martin. Yeah, wonderful people, my heart bleeds for 'em!
I wonder how many old dears Barras killed with the shock of finding themselves burgled? But don’t believe me, read the facts of this wonderful loving family:

The father of the burglar shot dead by farmer Tony Martin has been jailed for 14 years for armed robbery. Six weeks after watching Martin sent down for life for the murder of his son, Fred Barras Snr tied up a woman security guard and held a gun to her head during a £400,000 raid on a clothing warehouse.
At the trial Barras said he was “devastated” by the death of his son, also call Fred.
Not so devastated, however, to prevent him walking into an industrial estate in Normanton, West Yorkshire, wearing a balaclava and carrying a gun. He forced the terrified lone woman guard to the floor, tied her hands and feet behind her back and pointed the gun at her temple. She was left trussed up like a turkey as Barras and his gang escaped with three lorry- loads of designer clothing. Her wrists and elbows were severely bruised, she suffered damaged tendons and was so traumatised she has now had to give up her job and seek psychiatric counselling.
Barras Snr’s criminal record dates back to 1969, when, as a juvenile, he was convicted of assault causing bodily harm. He has since accumulated an impressive number of convictions, including handling stolen property, theft, battery, assaulting the police, threatening behaviour and a string of driving offences.
In court this week, his barrister claimed that his client’s return to crime – or rather being caught – after an interval of a year, may have been connected with the death of his son.
We might of thought that losing a child in a shooting incident during a burglary would have had the exact opposite effect. Surely any sane, rational decent parent would never want anything to do with firearms again. Not, just six weeks later, menace a woman with a gun in the course of a robbery.
Another member of the Barras clan, Grandmother Elizabeth Barras, was also charged with possessing a firearm and assisting an offender in connection with the clothing warehouse job but was too ill to stand trial.
The family are currently seeking legal aid to sue Tony Martin for criminal compensation over the death of Fred Jnr.
His other Grandmother Mary Dolan said, “It’s not fair that the farmer has got all the money. Fred’s mother’s only got what she gets from benefit and if Fred was still here he would be in a job now and bringing more money into the house”.
She added: “He would not have been a thief forever”.
Yes he would. When he wasn’t in prison. Certainly if his father is anything to go by. It runs in the family. It’s what they do.
Fred Jnr was 16 when he died. When he broke into Martin’s farmhouse he had already appeared in court 18 times and had 29 criminal convictions to his name, including theft, fraud and assaulting the police. He had served two months in a young offenders’ institution. He was on bail at the time of the burglary and there is evidence he had been working as a fence.
Does this sound to you like a young man who would have turned his back on crime qualified as an accountant and joined the Rotary Club?
Fred Barras Jnr had spent his life surrounded by villains and low-life. The two men who took him on the burglary that fateful night both have criminal records as long as the M4 bus lane.
Darren Bark 33, who drove the car, had 52 previous convictions stretched back 20 years, including a large number for theft, burglary and assault. He has been in and out of prison more often than Norman Stanley Fletcher. Brendan Fearon 30, a family friend occasionally described as an “uncle”, is a vicious career criminal, with 33 convictions ranging from burglary to wounding.
Throw in Fred Jnr’s CV and the three men involved in the burglary at Tony Martin’s farmhouse had 114 convictions between them. Yet they were free to roam the countryside at random, thieving and menacing householders.
But it is Tony Martin, a man with a previously unblemished record, who is in jail for life, a political prisoner. Bark and Fearon will very soon be free to resume their criminal careers.
In a sick perversion of what passes for British “justice” these days, the Home Office has even consulted Fearon on when and whether Martin should be released. And the Barras family are able to apply for legal aid to sue Martin as “victims” of crime.
As I think someone once said; we are all going to hell in a handcart.
Fred Barras Jnr has been described as a “loveable rogue”. Fred Barras Snr said after Martin’s trial: “Fred was fun-loving and always happy, with no mean streak”. (Unless you count his 29 criminal convictions, presumably.)
“He was a devoted son and brother”. And he never stood a chance. The devoted son was destined to emulate his father and his scum-of-the-earth friends. That sealed his fate.
In a laughable piece of evidence, Brendan Fearon actually claimed they had only taken Fred Jnr along that night to “keep him out of trouble”.
Tony Martin may have fired the fatal shot but it was Fred Barras Jnr’s “family” who killed him.

You assume incorrectly, Bexter. And I find it really, really hard to extend my extensive reserves of humanity in the direction of Barras and others of his kind. These are people who operate on an entirely different moral basis to the overwhelming majority of us. They have absolutely no respect for other people, their property, their feelings or, indeed, for the rule of law. All they are interested in is preying on the weak and defenceless so that they may acquire their ill-gotten gains as easily as possible. There is no amount of rehabilitation or education that will make scum like these change their ways. My hatred, as you call it, is of a society that makes excuses for this pond-life and fails to protect the weak, the scared and the vulnerable. If it takes a Tony Martin to put one of these arseholes in the ground and thereby bring the debate surrounding the shambles that is our criminal justice system into focus, then so be it. People need to open their eyes.

I feel very sorry for Tony Martin.

I think he should have been given a medal and cash prize for ridding the world of a pikey.

The scum got exactly what he deserved. If he wasn't out thieving, he wouldn't have got shot.

I hope he's burning in hell.
