Any manager bar Southgate will be an improvement over Hodgson but it's clearly looks to be McCarthy and do not think that is much of an improvement.

I haven't seen or heard anything that makes that clear to me

He was interim manager and is always next to Roy at matches, non of these points make it crystal clear but at the very least his hat will be in the ring.

McCarthy is the cheap option and that worries me, because that is the likely option.

It is a massive risk, and I'm not confident he is good enough. It does work sometimes (ie. Gary O'Neil at Bournemouth) but fails alot of the time.

You can just see it next season, McCarthy made manager in the summer. Sacked before Christmas and Roy asked in step in for the rest of the season and guide us to safety. Another season of simply standing still with no further indication for the future.

Roy won't always be there to save us every season.

Roy didn't save us last season. We were in 12th place when Vieira departed. Roy totally coincidentally and with perfect timing then took over when all the hard work had been done by PV and his team against higher placed opposition, and the remaining fixtures were conveniently against lower placed teams. What happened backstage to secure the departure of PV we'll never know the full story, but it is now known that Parish was in contact with Roy well before PV eventually departed.

I think our next manager will be Steve Cooper.

I don't think he'll last the season at Forest, been interviewed by Parish before (reportedly) and was linked with us last season.

Not sure if I rate him or not though.

I’m not sure if we’ll get him, but I’m with you on him not lasting the season, you just get the feeling their owner is itching to bring in a big name marquee type manager.

Totally agree, I felt for PV because I’m sure he would’ve benefited from the ‘easier’ games as Roy did, but I also understand the change, because it must’ve been on Parish’s mind how long he gave Pardew that nearly ended in disaster. It’s a shame PV couldn’t have mustered up a cup run like Pardew did to keep him in the job

PV supporters will argue that he would have got the results to keep us up had he stayed. However it seems that he was in a bad place mentally when he was sacked.

Furthermore, his use of (or failure to correctly use) Eze was criminal as Hodgson showed when he came in and gave Eze a bit of support and encouragement.

Of course, we'll never know what would have happened had Vieira stayed but what we DO know is that once Hodgson came in, fears of getting dragged into the relegation battle quickly disappeared.

Is that the same Vieira who has spent 56m at Strasbourg, and is doing so badly that the fans want him out, maybe he had some tricky games
