Dave Whelan appears to have made an anti semantic comment. You would think in this day and age that he would know better. Very disappointing. Let's hope for an apology and better behaviour.

The Ultra-Orthodox men, arguably the most Jewish, usually don't work - too busy studying The Torah - and are generally p1ss poor. Chasing money is the last thing on their mind. As with most generalisations, be it about Palestinians, the left, students, teachers, etc, it is smothered in ignorance more than actual racism. Also, some racialist comments don't automatically mean racism - the bullying, violence, excluding, haranguing that is real racism; the proper hardcore stuff - though for some unknown reason the media says it does. Malky and Dave Whelan (estimated wealth 2012 $210 million): a marriage made in heaven. Perhaps TUX can be the bridesmaid. TUX, you surprise and disappoint me. I really thought you were better than that.The frightening thing is you don't even realise how inappropriate your comment is. I'm not going to dignify such trash with further comment. Kermit, I appreciate where you are coming from, but, as you know, it is entirely possible for comments by the Whelan/Malky/Tux triumvirate to reflect both ignorance and prejudice. It's not offensive unless you're seeking to be offended for some reason. Are you? It is interesting that in the past I have spoken to people of different cultures about words used to describe them and they tell me that their communities are NOT offended at all and see the terms used as "Descriptive" rather than offensive ! So who are the people who have decided that certain words are 'Offensive' to those NOT from these shores ? A few years ago I returned from holiday somewhat 'Bronzed'. An asian turned around to me and said "You look like a ****" !!!! Finally I suspect that we are reaching the stage where we won't be able to say we don't like "Irish stew" as it offends those from the 'Emerald Isle' !

Well I don't know what Jewish people you have spoken to but most I know would take great offence at being told "Jewish people chase money more than everybody else" and I definitely don't know any Chinese people happy to described as "Chinks" - especially when clearly in context meant perjoratively.

If, by some bizzare reason, you have actually carried out this supposed survey, I would suggest your research is flawed and the majority of people would find these terms offensive. Do yourself a little test if you like - write out a list of these 'terms' and ask yourself if you would use them to a complete stranger. Descriptive rather than offensive term?
