According to an article in nufcblog Freedman is the preferred candidate "after making it to the last three and the final stage of interviews"

If that is the case and he has already spoken to Newcastle it would appear that he is interested in the job

Or it could be useful leverage for a good pay increase

It was incredibly stressful. 4 minutes left to get a goal and the countdown was ticking...

I think I am naive but I will say this anyway.

He left once with disastrous consequences. In interview, he actually cried real tears over his regrets. The grass is seldom greener.

He moved while playing but players are itinerate, directors should have greater permanence.

I feel Palace is his home. He and his family must be well settled. He is treated as royalty. He is part of the history, culture and fabric of the club. More so than anyone.

He and Parrish have slowly, sustainably and prudently built the club from the ashes over many years. We have seen, with envy and a degree of bitterness in one case, other clubs rise at a faster rate and pass us on the ladder. However, I think we are finally at the point that he and the club have worked so hard for where the current coaching team, playing staff and academy will take us to the next level and in a sustainable way.

Would he really leave now or, indeed, ever before he sees the fruits of what he helped to build?

Very good post silvertop.
Lets just hope he thinks the same way.
It's a shame that this world seems to be ignoring the emotions you describe so well.
Let's hope also that the money differential is not huge, or maybe we could find a way of tweeking things to ensure he stays.

With potentially Olise, Eze and Guehi leaving, this is an absolutely vital summer transfer window for us and it opens in a month. If he leaves now it would be a disaster.

He was my favourite player growing up in the 90s and I was gutted when he ditched us to go to to Bolton. By the time he reported us for the 'spying' thing in 2014 I thought he was a complete tosser.

He's come back into the club and done extremely well to help build us to where we are. If he once again leaves for a 'better opportunity' as soon as things are looking up, it's going to be a kick in the teeth.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I don’t think Dougie has ever had the credit he deserves. For me, he is the person that made all of this happen. He was the one that pieced together a team of nobodies together to help gain promotion in 12/13. Yes he made a mistake and left but he put the blocks in place. Inspired signings back then, Bolasie, Jedinak, Delaney, Murray amongst many more. He continues to do this until this day. A brilliant servant to the club.

Not one of these was a Freedman find. Of course he was involved in bringing them to the club but All of these were recommendations from Curtis Fleming, Popovic and others.
I am not saying Freedman hasn't had his successes and has not done a good job but lets have it right. There are many players signed by the club during his time it would simply be wrong to give him the credit for when he had little input in them.

Simon Jordan doesn’t give out praise lightly, but I’ve heard him on the radio constantly over the last few months praising Dougie for the job he does. Also for what he did on and off the field as a player when he was chairman

Simon Jordan has zero knowledge of Freedman the Dof. Only Freedman the player

Front runner according to another article.

This could be very bad. Unless...

...he has left in place a successor and established network who will simply carry on where he left off.

In addition to bringing in a hefty compo package. Money no object apparently.

He will now be fishing from a different pond so unlikely to run up against us as competition.

Why? Anyone would think there is no one else anywhere in Europe with any connections/contacts. I'm betting Glasner already knows 2 or 3! And yes, I believe there are others that could do a very good job in the same role

He was at the game last night and seemed very happy and comfortable.
My only worry is that his family apparently lives in Manchester which might be a reason he is thinking about a move?
His work doesn't involve being at CPFC every day of course.
We can but hope - he is Palace through and through - let's hope that fact wins through.

Freedman and Parish have a good relationship which is a credit to both of them after Freedman left for Bolton.

I think Parish is a sensible enough owner to realise it wasn't personal and to forgive and forget. In an interview he said that every manager he sacked he has since spoken to and welcomed back to SP, no hard feelings etc.

My guess is that if Freedman wants to go Parish will let him he's been in the job 7 years so maybe he just fancies a change.
