The only reason for prayer rooms is the demands of muslims, not any other religious group.

So it is reasonable to say the previous norm in the UK is being changed to cater for a minority group that the powers that be are terrified of refusing.

Every purpose built prayer room is costing investors or taxpayers extra as the space could be used for something else.

The joke is these rooms are often labelled as " multi faith " to give the impression that they are not there for one group

Out multi faith room was a stationary closet, they were welcome to it.

Is anyone “demanding” that prayer rooms be provided?

Or are architects and planners deciding that it is in the common interests of us all to try to ensure religious observances are kept private?

If I am sitting in an airport lounge, or restaurant, I don’t want to witness others performing the acts associated with their personal beliefs, whatever they might be, anymore than I want to witness any other kind of personal act! We provide private toilet facilities and ban lewd behaviour. Why is this any different?

Whenever I see a prayer room at an airport it makes me laugh. Imagine if you are nervous about flying and then you see that. Hardly encouraging.

I know, I hate it when I see someone reading the Guardian in an airport lounge.

Just out of interest how many perform these religious acts in public in Britain? I've it happening in Iran but not here that I remember.

I hope that school Principal has a good team of bodyguards. That her home address remains secret. That her car gets swept hourly for tracker devices. And that her home has a Chapo-Guzman style escape tunnel.
And also that she has a backup home in a mountain-village in India, next to Salman Rushdie.

Every member of school staff has had a security briefing and has security installed at home and work. What a wonderful gift multi culturalism is. That is the standard procedure in these cases. It will be unlikely that anyone has actual police protection.
My hope is that Muslims are restrained by their community leaders in order to not turn England into France. Where students and teachers are in a constant battle over regulations and Islam. Only one party is armed, however, making teacher's protection their stab vests (bought with their own money) and a couple of books

Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, that Japanese Government minister....

when the assassin wants to get you, no amount of bodyguards can guarantee your protection.

None of the school staff will have been provided with bodyguards or police protection. Unless they've paid for it themselves. It's not like there's any real threat from Islamists.

I have no idea and don’t expect it to have been measured. I have seen it though.

It’s not just Muslims praying 5 times daily that I object to. It’s any kind of religious observance.
