I agree that we need to pull out all the stops to keep Eze, Olise and Mateta. Pay them a chunk more and give them a club strategy to believe in.

I appreciate we’ll have to sell someone. Guehi and Edouard spring to mind.

Le Tissier, Currie, Hudson, Worthigton, Marsh and Bowles, the most gifted English Players i have seen, Excluding Gascoinge, have 49 caps between them, Match winners, the same amount as Eric Dier, that's why England have won sweet FA for 60 years.

No England manager found a way to get the best out of those players. And I think that was also true of Peter Osgood to an extent, and also Glenn Hoddle. I'm sure there are others.

And at club level, none played for big clubs that consistently won trophies.

So I think there was a lack of trust shown towards them and nobody willing to risk building a team around their talents.

Ebs could turn out to be our Le Tissier. Happy to be a big fish in a small pond rather than be one of a number at the likes of City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc. etc.

I'm one of those that thinks he doesn't always impose himself in games against the top teams, but let's face it, if he's the difference in the majority of Palace games against the rest of the clubs then he's a huge asset.

We've been robbed of seeing him and Olise play together for most of this season. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that had they been regularly available, then Palace would probably be 7/8 points better off and had no relegation concerns.

On a positive note that situation did result in Glasner coming in sooner however.

How about, you, learn to use punctuation appropriately, please, before making rude, interjections.

Tone? I asked a Q? My punctuation is fine thank you, same as yourself. Rude? Just making an observation same as you did without the superior retort.

Have a nice day.

I think the biggest problem we could face with Eze is if he continues to perform as he did against WHU, within the OG set-up, teams may try to mark him out of games. My immediate reaction to this is to hope OG would equally make that work to our advantage somehow if extra resource is dedicated to Ebz, exposing other areas on the pitch.

He's fantastically gifted and wonderfully entertaining. He could perhaps finer tune his consistency, sharpen his awareness/decision making so as not to put us in peril and maybe be more ruthless in front of goal but all or any combination of those things would almost certainly see his departure from our club.

Let's enjoy him for as long as we have him, hope he continues to flourish and try not to have little online scraps over any discussions eh!

2 great wins on the trot, another home match this week, PL football next season, a manager who looks the real deal and plenty to (realistically) look forward to. COYP.

Maybe that is the problem, the managers, Bobby Robson, Graham Taylor, Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle, Kevin Keegan, Sven-Göran Eriksson, Steve McClaren, Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce, Gareth Southgate, what an awful list, the only quality was Capello, and he was past it.

Eze and Olise have only just signed new contracts and earn c£100k a week. We don't need to, nor should we pay them even more.

Mateta is just over half way through a 5 year contract earning about £50k a week. That seems more than fair for a player who has rarely been a regular starter until the last couple of months.

I don't think wages are the issue here. If a bigger club makes a bid, as always it will be difficult to turn down once a player's head is turned

I would love to have seen a England team managed by Brian Clough.
You forgot Paul Scoles rated by some of the best midfielders in the world at the time.

I note the discussion about whether playing for the likes of Pep would restrict Eze.
I would suggest the answer is yes.
Henry was one of the best players in the world, but at Barcelona Pep told him he wouldn't play unless ' he could see chalk on his boots. '
He wanted to see him posted out on the left to create space for Messi i.e to sacrifice himself for the team.
I just don't see Eze as a rigid formation type player.
De Bruyne, Silva and Foden are very talented but are tactically very flexible.
I'm not sure that tactical rigidity would get the best out of Eze.

Agreed, Patrick. Look at Grealish at Citeh - he's far too restricted to give his best - hence, he's in and out of the team.
