What an amazing topic and thread! I haven't examined all the replies but some names which I have not seen in those I have read: Chris Ellison (the series Wolcott, Burnside in the Bill, numerous other unsavoury villains). John Ortiz (nasty piece of work in the remake of Miami Vice) Andy Serkis (Robey the villain in Luther; some nasty scumbag in a film called Sugarhouse) Alan Ford (Bricktop in Snatch) Frank Harper (Generic henchman in numerous London crime capers. Apparently a Millwall fan. Which tells you all you need to know). Joaquim de Almeida (Bucho in Desperado; various other bad guys). Sean Bean Oh, and for comedic purposes: Gene Hunt.

Arnie in first Terminator film is immense screen presence. Vernon Wells who played opposite him in Commando as Bennett and was the violent/camp baddie in Mad Max 2. Klaus Kinski was always a very scary, unhinged presence on screen - and same in real life apparently. Didn't need Vampire makeup to terrify. His daughter was beautiful though.

That’s a great shout, one of my favourite comedy characters, I know it was comedy, but still brilliantly sinister……..and I think his henchman Crusher deserves a mention as hard men go

His daughter was beautiful though. In my Michael Caine post I made this point. American Hollywood stars like to play the hero. When Arnie made Terminator he was not yet a star but when Terminator 2 came along he was so he then played a good robot. But I agree Arnie is a limited actor but I think he would be very good as a nasty villain.

Alan Ford was brilliant as an uncompromising hard nut playing "Brick Top" Pullford in Snatch. His explanation about feeding corpses to pigs was classic Guy Ritchie. [Link]
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
