Ivan Kaviedes has reportedly cut short his loan spell with Palace and returned to Ecuador.
Ecuadorian international Kaviedes was on a season-long loan from Barcelona de Guayaquil, in Ecuador, with a view to a $ 2m deal.
And despite regularly hitting the back of the net for the reserves, the 27-year-old has failed to impress boss Iain Dowie.
He made just one first-team start and five substitute appearances. Kaviedes has had problems settling at his clubs but has prospered at international level, scoring the goal that helped Ecuador qualify for the 2002 World Cup.
Two Ecuadorian clubs have shown an interest and Kaviedes will discuss terms with them this week.
Iain Dowie said: "It was just a case that he didn't settle. In our Premiership development he probably was a player that two years down the line would have settled in, when we were established, because he has got the talent.
"But I felt he struggled to cope with the way in which we played. We need everybody to work hard, I'm not saying he doesn't work hard because he does work hard on the ball.
"In the matter of his displays, sometimes when he gives the ball away it is in the wrong areas."
