Neil Warnock is still waiting for his first Crystal Palace victory after the Eagles drew 1-1 at Cardiff.
Clint Hill, the new loan signing from Stoke, was handed his debut at left-back, while 15-year-old midfielder John Bostock started for the first time.
Things started badly when the Welsh side took the lead after just nine minutes as skipper Darren Purse rose highest in the box to nod in a corner.
Bostock went close with an effort from 20 yards before the Eagles drew level with a penalty five minutes before the break.
Tom Soares, back from his three-game ban, was fouled just inside the edge the area by Tony Capaldi and the ever-so-cool Ben Watson put away the spot-kick.
Clinton Morrison and fit-again Paul Ifill replaced James Scowcroft and Franck Songo'o for the second half as the Eagles searched for a precious three points.
In the 72nd minute, exciting 18-year-old striker Victor Moses was given his full debut but failed to inject any spark into proceedings.
On-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel did well to keep out an effort from Ifill, while Cardiff striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink somehow headed over a great chance at the back post.
Cardiff could have won it through Capaldi and Hasselbaink late on but a draw ended up a fair result for the two struggling sides.
Palace: Speroni, Lawrence, Hudson, Fonte, Hill, Watson, Bostock (Moses 72), Songo'o (Ifill 46), Soares, Kennedy, Scowcroft (Morrison 46).
Not used: Flinders, Fletcher.
