Crystal Palace defender Danny Butterfield has joined Charlton on loan until the end of the season.
Manager Neil Warnock is in desperate need of new recruits to arrest Palace's slide down the table and this move will free up cash for him to bring someone else in.
Eagles full-back Butterfield has seen his place in the first team taken by exciting young prospect Nathaniel Clyne.
Butterfield, who can be recalled by Palace after the first 28 days of the loan, will now get regular football as basemant club Charlton struggle to avoid relegation to League One.
Warnock said: "At the moment I'm just trying to manoeuvre funds to let me bring one or two players in. That's why I've let Danny go."
Charlton already have former Palace players Mark Hudson, Tom Soares and Darren Ward in their squad.
