Crystal Palace defender Lee Hills is having a trial with Southend United.
The left-back's future could lie away from Selhurst Park after he was named in the Shrimpers reserves squad that travels to non-league Braintree for a friendly tonight (Tuesday).
Hills, 21, has been out of action for almost two years with a knee injury but is fit again after turning out for Palace's reserves last week.
The Palace Academy product has had awful luck with injuries, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Derby in April 2010.
He has made 47 appearances for the Eagles and had loan spells at Oldham Athletic and Colchester United.
Meanwhile, Palace have signed 18-year-old striker Bayan Fenwick from Lewes and Manchester City's Spanish forward Joan Roman, 18 is on trial.
