Team news

Eagles midfielder Bakary Sako is out after suffering a hamstring injury during Monday's night's defeat against Sunderland. Dwight Gayle is also out with the same injury.

Newcastle United midfielder Chieck Tiote is a doubt due a groin injury, with Jack Colback also sidelined.

Siem de Jong, Massadio Haidara and Yoan Gouffran are set to be named in the squad. However, Tim Krul, Rolando Aarons, Steven Taylor and Gabriel Obertan are all missing for the Magpies.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"[Sako] certainly couldn't continue [against Sunderland] and that's a little bit disappointing because he is a real goal threat for us, particularly when teams are deep. I thought he caused a couple of problems when he was on the pitch.

"I don't know if Marouane [Chamakh] will be ready to start this weekend. He hasn't really had a lot of game-time, but we probably have to feed him in as we go along. I don't know if he can really start on Saturday but he has that class and quality when defences are deep to make the moment."

"It was Connor Wickham's first game back after injury on Monday and probably he's not as sharp as he should be.

"Scoring goals has been an area that's been a problem this year. Away from home when teams come onto us we enjoy it a little bit more, we won't deny that. But we have to find a solution at home and we have another chance on Saturday to see if we can."
