An abject performance by Crystal Palace saw them lose 2-0 at home to Burnley.
The in-form Eagles would have fancied their chances of sealing their Premier League safety against a Burnley side that had not won away all season.
But a below-par display saw them crash to a defeat that leaves them still seven points above the relegation zone with three games left to play.
They started the match well but were dealt a sucker punch by allowing the Clarets to get themselves in front after just seven minutes through Ashley Barnes, who turned in Stephen Ward's low cross at the second attempt.
Barnes had effort disallowed shortly after he handled Michael Keane's header.
Palace were on the wrong end of a bad officiating decision when Wilfried Zaha was sent through and clattered by on-rushing keeper Tom Heaton but was flagged offside. Replays showed he was clearly onside and Heaton would have almost certainly seen a red card.
In the second half, Palace were denied a penalty when Zaha was hacked down in the area by Jon Flanagan.
But Burnley's defence held firm despite Palace pressure and secured the 2-0 win as substitute Andre Gray drilled a low shot on the counter attack.
