I dont think Palace is standing still. I think the club is not maybe progressing as fast as many would like but you do have to be realistic. The higher up the football pyramid you go the steeper it is and the slower the progress.
We football fans have short memories and are very fickle. Before I say this I too get bored of people making out Parish can do no wrong because he was part of a consortium that saved the club but whether any of us like it its a fact, he was. Rewind back to 2010 and we were on the brink of relegation to the 3rd tier of English football. Somewhere we haven't been since the 1970s. Forest, Wednesday, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, City, Southampton have all been there more recently than Palace. Building on that particular bedrock the squad was rebuilt, the stadium was improved as best as can be done within its current structure (I never go into the Arthur, I'm told the toilets are still like something out of Game of Thrones) but the point is they are trying to push forward and compete both on and off the pitch with clubs that have Billions and reside in stadiums Palace could only dream about.
The club invested heavily in the academy which will 100% bring talent into the first team but it takes time. The club does not have 100m or even 50m to spend on a single player so they have to scour the globe for young talent (Franca) and bargains (Lerma) but this takes time. The club cannot afford 50m players in the squad to sit on the bench so the club needs good coaches to work with the best talent we can afford, and yes our second string is currently not good enough but it takes time. The club desperately needs to redevelope the stadium. In London right now where we have a mayor that quite literally wants to charge us for the air we breath and a NIMBY living nearby in every direction, not to mention a Supermarket on site (Raymond Bloye's fault not Parish) that keeps driving the price up on an essential but small piece of land, again, none of us want to hear it but it takes time to sort out.
I personally wonder if the stadium situation will ever get sorted but if you try and look at the positives instead of the negatives we are what we all dreamed of being in the top division. Competitive. Dont try and tell me its a fluke we have survived this division for ten years without relegation. Its impossible to stay in this division for even 2 years on luck never mind ten. We have probably the best first eleven that we've ever had (and thats without Zaha), we still have Olise, Franca and maybe even Ferguson to yet enter the fray.
No one would argue that progress is at a snails pace sometimes but personally I think in this division? Considering what we're trying to compete with? Standing still is progress.

This is another great post and well balanced.

On evenings such as Tuesday, all will seem lost. A few of them or a big win when we're comfortably mid table in the PL, with perhaps a sparkling performance from the likes of Eze, Olise and maybe even Franca, and we'll all be happy once more.

Nothing is perfect, and we're very far from it, but things could be unbelievably worse. It is and has been a trudge but a progressive one with the odd step backwards.

COYP

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Right back we need an upgrade and left back needs competition, Centre back's are fine just get rid of Tomkins, I love our midfield 3 but they need a bit more competition, Olise and Ayew are decent wingers but our failure to replace Zaha will come back n bite us on the behind, we should have atlease picked up a couple of back ups.

We also needed another striker, I just hope we get our injured players back soon. Our last 2 matches we have been a bit rubbish and I can't see it improving anytime soon

And what are we going to use to finance it, Monopoly money.

No, I'd start with the £20m spent on Hendo

I think if we'd utilsed the free market more and the loan market there were lots of options out there.

Youri Tielemans free
Adama Traore free
Raul Jimenez 5.50
Jack Harrison loan
Max Aarons 7m
CHO 5m
Gonzalo Montiel loan
Origi loan

Hardly. I did report his post saying "I thought Sarf was the most ignorant idiot on the forum, but i think you have taken over as the most half witted thickhead at the present time, and that is saying something"

The mods in their infinite wisdom decided that it wasn't worth taking any action so it looks like personal abuse is now acceptable as HOL slides downhill in it's bid to outdo the BBS in allowing people to insult it's members

Of course Parish is the problem, he is after all the chairman and has the responsibility. By the same token if things go well then he is due all credit. Two sides to the same coin.

You add the following as well

Luis Sinisterra - Loan to Bournemouth
Mike Tresor - loan to Burnley
Arnut Danjuma - loan to Everton

There should be some serious questions posed about our decision making the transfer window.

Maybe the Mods in their wisdom have deemed that pointing out a fact and agreeing with Fudger and the majority on here isnt worthy of a yellow card. Sounds like sour grapes to me! Oh how the mighty have fallen .

I think especially when, to many, it all comes across as 'We've lost our talismanic winger and best player for the last x years, Olise is injured, Ayew is probably not definable as a winger and we bought an injured forward player who, technically speaking, is untired at this level or in this continent and not a winger either... let's spend our miserly £25mil budget on a second string keeper who'll only last 15 mins and a CB nobody else wanted.'

I'm trying to limit my moans so that'll do for now COYP!!!
