For once, I am in complete agreement with you.

I am going to brighten my morning by having a good, solid 'Eartha'.

Can we have a dedicated Gusset v Himself thread so we don't have to wade through three pages of sniping before getting back to the last post which was actually discussing the topic of the thread?

Gusset, you can't resist a scrap.

It's ingrained in your DNA.

That's not a retort, Gusset, it is a throwaway line.

Are you going to defend the Greens educational policy? Failure to do so would imply your agreement, at least in part, with the 'great' Tristram Hunt.

I will defend the greens education policies.
There's much research that concludes starting formal schooling at 7 is better for kids.
Greens believe education should not be left to the market and that schools should be under the remit of local authorities rather than corporate edubusiness. There's been much in the news about cronyism, backhanders and dodgy dealings in academies. Academies lack local democratic accountability.
Like myself, greens are against the overtesting of children. This puts a lot of kids off of school.

There's lots more, but you won't read it Matt so I won't bother.

No, instead you will your typical superior self when questioned and again, dodge the question.

Sorry, can't understand that. I showed several ways in which the greens differ from the other parties. That is not dodging the question, that is answering it.
Now I remember why I stopped engaging with you a while ago.

BTW. I gave up playing what's the missing word. Can you enlighten us? Whilst I understand typing, writing can be an issue for you and sympathise, my advice to you would be the same as I give to my students. Read it back two or three times before handing in.

You have never 'engaged' with me. You have always posted self satisfied ramblings which you think should never be questioned by anyone. The fact I have questioned you, and you clearly hate being questioned as most teachers do as being able to pontificate in front of a group of people (usually younger and far less likely to question your ramblings) is how you get your mojo, is something that obviously gets under your skin.

With regard to your attempt at an insult, I have had worse insults thrown at me today by people who second language is English. Given your professed hostility to personal insults, something you have accused me of many times on here as a distraction from the point of what is being debated, does this make you a massive hypocrite?

Bum gravy. If you were to engage, you'd explain why you think kids should be over tested, why there shouldn't be local democratic accountability in schools and why the academy experiment is working (even though a select committee has just declared it as a disaster)

Edited by nickgusset (29 Jan 2015 9.51pm)

That's you trying to cover your tracks. Typically Trot tactics. You have provided bland nothings as fact.

Please answer the original question. Please defend Green educational policy? By backing up what you mean (I.e., explaining what you mean by 'over testing', not simply stating it as a problem). Why is schooling better started at 7 rather than stating 'studies say this' and instead of a typical 'cunds' rant against academies, explain your opposition to them.

Some evidence of research that formal schooling starts too early in this country... [Link]

Academies...high staff turnover, poor wages for teachers, lack of accountability... I could go on. Also there is no clear evidence that academies raise standards. [Link]

A quick look here gives many examples of research on the negative impact of over testing [Link]

Also, I and many of my colleagues have seen first hand the effect of over testing and the impact it has on the curriculum in schools that teach to the test rather than providing an enriching skills based curriculum.
