A post from NORTH STAND GAY CHAT

Article about Eddie Izzard saying we will win the premier league in 10 years.

this is a response to that, sour grapes?

'Palace will be champions'
Anything is possible with this bunch of ***** , today they are on the verge of paying £10 million for Yohan Cabaye on a £100,000 per week when only 5 years ago they were stealing other peoples money. Do you think it possible they might offer to pay any of their poor creditors back their money?

Do you know what...I know its simply not 'business' to do so but if CPFC2010 did actually pay everyone (bar that cnut Venables) back the money it would be an amazing gesture and be a real media coup.

Why should CPFC2010 pay for the mistakes of previous owners?

They shouldn't but the way its worked out for them its been hugely financially beneficial for them individually.

At non inconsiderable financial risk. They took a punt and it's paid off. They should be working in and with the community for sure but paying back debts SJ racked up and were written off no. They should perhaps make a gesture along the same lines as Swansea and subsidise tickets for away fans.

I doubt we'll be subsidising anything for a long while if we're paying £10m transfer fees and equivalent wages.

Would be a nice gesture though.

Actually there was very little risk, that's not to criticise them but it was pretty much chump change. £4million for ground and 1p in the £ to creditors if I remember correctly

You are right. This is why they forced Jordan into administration when, technically, they didn't have to. It reduced the price of acquiring the club. No question CPFC2010 have been our saviours but let's not forget, they're hard-nosed businessmen too. It's also how the rich get richer. 4 million for a ground with a land value many times that and a 99% discount on debt...nice work if you can get it. They had a return on their investment the minute they signed the contact.

But didn't they get such a good deal on the ground because they agreed to use it as such and not to sell to property developers?

However on balance they were taking on a club that was losing several million a year which they were going to have to fund out of their own pockets. At the time the prospect of being where we are now would have been unlikely to say the least.

Very little risk??? Dismissing the amount it cost to buy the club they took over when we had just struggled against relegation (albeit with points deduction) and were favorites for the drop the next season.

It is the cost of running the club which at the time was generating hardly any money. We were running at something like a 6/7m loss a year and only just broke even the year we sold Zaha and got promoted.

They might have had a speculative plan but could never have visioned it would turn out as well as it has.

The figure I saw was £4million but with an anti-embarrassment clause, i.e. They couldn't just flog the ground and make a fortune without sharing the profit with Lloyds.

In terms of risk to CPFC2010 there was very little. The money mentioned to you and I may seem a lot but look at their gross net worth and they wouldn;t have ended up like Jordan if it had gone tits up.

As I say that's not a criticism, far from it, we've had too many fans try and run the club with very little business acumen, CPFC2010 thankfully are both fans and businessmen

As per usual Syd doesn't know what he's talking about. 1. Agilo were the ones who put the club into admin. 2. It was £6m for the ground. 3. As someoine else has stated, the club were hemorrhaging money until we got to the prem.

Expect Ian J to pop with the fact that CPFC 2010 took out a debenture, but forgets that you need liquidity behind you to actually take out a debenture.

Correct. I doubt it was in their business plan to be spending £10m+ on buying a French international with 40 odd caps within 5 years when they came in. I don't think buying Cabaye would stop them subsidising away ticket prices though. Even a £10-20 subsidy per game would cost less than £1m over the season. It would also probably protect them from having to pay for unsold tickets (e.g. Wet Spam last season).
