I think the new stand will hold 13,500. The figure of 8000+ is the amount of the increase in overall capacity.

Thank you doombear, I wasn't sure.

I don't see that happening if we are relegated over those 30 years.

it's been mentioned often that it's the corporate hospitality that will bring in the significant extra amounts for new high end facilities - but that leads to the same point you are making which is there won't be nearly as much of that if we end up in the Championship

Might of misunderstood what you're saying as my head is a bit fuzzy after that result yesterday , but would it be that long?

I imagine that some of the cost will be recouped in corporate entertainment, with a higher amount being brought in on match days.

If you do base it just on the 8000 extra bums on seats, then assuming a 38 game season (not including any cup games) then we should have at least 19 games per season at home, so:

19 x 8000 = 152,000 extra people per season
152,000 x £62.50 (assumed average ticket price) = £9,500,000 extra revenue per season (min)
£150,000,000 / £9,500,00 would be 16 years (rounding up)

Haven't included things like interest, fees, costs, etc. as I have no idea what that would be, but if you assumed that corporate entertainment and cup games cover that (big assumption though!) then all being well we should be able to clear it within 20 years, if we avoid relegation.

There’s talk this should finally start soon. Does anyone know how the extra seats will be allocated season ticket wise? I’ve got 3 season tickets and although the seats are good, I could do with a change and a decent bar. I watch developments with interest.

I hope it won't be the West Ham solution. When they moved from Upton Park it was a free for all and people who had sat together for years suddenly found themselves separated, very unhappy fans.

The logical thing to do is tell everyone they are staying in their own seats in the new stand. If people want to move then it's no different to today, if there is an available seat first come first served.

I have a decent seat in the main stand, I like it because its maybe 60% up so great view of the pitch but more importantly for me its in a row of only 3 people, right by the entry / exit stairs just a short hop to either the bar or the loo, at my age I don't need to be clambering over long lines of supporters every time I need to pee ( especially after having a few beers before the game) -

My concerns are that in upgrading the main stand, presumable there will be additional foundations / strengthening beams added running through the existing seat areas before they add new sections above & outside ? in other words will the existing seating arrangement's / rows be altered ?

Does anyone know ?

I am not averse to choosing new seats when the time comes but having spent so long overseas I only have maybe 2500 points so I could be quite a long way down the queue.

Hopefully Pierre, when he has the next meeting with the supporters club thingy can get some questions asked / maybe some clarity on how things are likely to go.

I think that is a valid point. Your seat today may look different in the new stand and you may choose to move. It's why I hope the club do something sensible like organise a friendly to test out the stand if people don't like their seat they can check out others.

Not sure what happens if we all want the same seat I guess it is first come first served.

Indeed, at least with modern technology, providing they load the details of any new seating arrangement's properly you should be able to get a feel of what seat your buying - aisle seat, length of the row etc etc, I know some stadium websites actually do a "view from your seat" so you feel more invested in the purchase -

At least as existing season ticket holders we will have some idea of how things will be from the stadium images on the screen but there's no accounting for an newly installed, previously unlisted support pillar right in the line of sight between you & the goalmouth -

There is talk of CPFC asking the league to play the first few games of next season away because of the construction work so its doubtful we will even have the opportunity of a practice run -

Its a tad irksome given that once you commit to the seas your in it for the whole season & its a lot of money to lay out to find that your not happy -

When the Holmesdale stand was built, the end was closed for at least a season. They have sold season tickets for the main stand for next season already. So, if construction is due to start the old main stand will need to be demolished at some point, where are they going to seat those season ticket holders, whilst that is being done.
The whole project is a logistical challenge, I guess that is why its taking so long to start along with planning issues and relocating residents from Wolleston houses. The construction from start to finish would be at least 2 years.

Wasn't there some thinking that the new section(s) would be built shrouding behind / around & over the existing sections to minimize disruption (I think Liverpool stand was done on the same way) obviously its not as simple as all that & for sure the existing main stand will need work doing to it as well so I dont doubt that there will be disruption - it would be good if once the work starts the club issue a kind of building plan / phases of anticipated completion with rough time lines for each phase
(on the phases where supporters / existing season ticket holders are impacted) so people know what to expect.

The plan was to use the construction company who built the main stand at Anfield without disturbing the old structure until it was time for the roof to go on and the new section added. If this is the case it will be another year before changes need to be made except access to accommodate work on foundations around the main stand.
It has taken Fulham the best part of five years to build the Riverside Stand but it had logistic problems building by the Thames. Without those I expect, with overruns, we may enjoy a posh new stand in three.
