Pleased to see the dire early to mid-80's features highly in Monkey's line-up, but I hope you don't mean Joachim Anderson, who IMHO is absolute quality. Other terrible strikers of that era included Aylott, Jones and Edwards, if memory serves me right.
Also remember around then going to a match where someone called Leahy (I think) was announced in the line-up as a striker, to audible groans from the Palace faithful. Never heard of him before or since, but he certainly lived down to expectations.

Definitely not, remember Leif Anderson/Andersen? Not sure how it’s spelt.

I remember Stephen Leahy, he came on as sub and right in front of us in the new stand(Arthur) the first thing he did was stand on the ball and fall arse over bollock, funny the things you remember
After being part of that great youth team he went on to great things, I googled him and after his 4 appearances in our 1st team he went on to have 8 appearances for Dartford, then that was it

Venables got Tony Hazell from Millwall in as right back cover in the late 70s - he was past it by then, had a 'Purdey' hairstlye and looked terrified whenever he got the ball bcos he knew he was cr*p, him playing on the opposite side to Kenny Sansom!!! one of Tel's early 'get your mates in' dodgy acquisitions.

He did get a perfectly good goal struck off at Coventry, though. I talked to Mick Coope (sp?) some years later. He was standing on the post when he said Allen's free kick whistled past his ear, hit the back stantion and rebounded into play, far too quick for the referee to register what had gone on. Coope said he had never seen a ball struck more cleanly in years and years of professional football.

I was standing right in that corner as well, it was unbelievable, you didn’t need VAR to see it had clearly gone in. I still say to this day, even though it was early in the season, that killed us, we just never recovered after that

I don’t know whether any of you watch ‘Dorking uncovered’ on YouTube. Well Tony Craig(remember him?) plays for them. He was awful for us and that was 15 years ago, he made that sort of cock up in last nights episode against Altrincham that really does make you look a plum. He went to clear the ball, swung at it, but clipped it with his standing foot, did an air shot and they went through and scored

has anyone mentioned Calvin Andrew, or is it too obvious? and we got someone similar from Boreham Wood, Simon Thomas i think his name was, ran around for a 15 minute cameo and disappeared.

I forgot about Calvin Andrew, not to be confused with Wayne Andrews, although they were both as bad

Absolutely although Calvin (I think) did run his useless heart out, won a few headers and went absolutely ballistic when he scored his solitary goal, so I’m not too harsh on him.

I’m sure Wayne Andrews was mistaken for a footballer, probably waiting for a cab or something, but fair play he made the most of the situation and who wouldn’t?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Per Bartram, that'll take some beating.

An un-great Dane - he was poor.

I also witnessed what I believe was Brian Snowdon's only Palace appearance in 1969. Perhaps a bit unfair to judge a player on a single performance and he was reaching the end of his career. But, he was bad. I was on the Whitehorse that day and in a quiet moment after said player had again stumbled over the ball a wag in the crowd shouted out "You are bloody carthorse Snowdon". I couldn't have put it better myself.

Still have nightmares thinking of Tony Mahoney, and not forgetting Tommy Langley, also remember thinking what a bargain we got with David Price, in one game I recall he didn't touch the ball for the first half hour not bad for a midfield workhorse
