The "Clear and obvious' does not apply to offside decisions as they are deemed factual based on the lines that are drawn to determine whether a player is offside or onside.

The trouble is that its not factual when the ball is played .They look at it and decide ,its an opinion .

Coventry for example were robbed .The freeze frame and the lines were drawn too early . The ball is shown at the players feet but he is not playing the ball forward . From the film he flicks the ball forward maybe a second later but thats enough time for AWB to play the forward well onside .

Its basically frame manipulation ,no slow mo either (That they show in the PL ) which also covers up a poor decision

And we still need a striker

Absolutely. There should be a 'buffer' in which case the 'offside line' should be (i.e.) 5 times thicker than it is. If the attacking player is beyond this thicker line, then he is definately offside. Benefits of this system is that the benefit of the doubt.

Also, Every player has a GPS signal on their back as standard nowadays. Why cannot we utilise this for Offside. we can then semi automate it, the only variable for this being a VAR official selecting when the ball was actually kicked. (buffer system still applicable)

They'll never win any argument based on subjectivity. Accepting referees can make mistakes, or be unsighted, is one thing but VAR should have at least recommended the ref reviewed the incidents.
Their point about the VAR official being a Luton fan is very dubious. How would the FA schedule work if refs, linesmen and officials could only be involved in games which didn't impact the clubs in which they have an interest?

Prior to football in England(92-93) all officials had to declare 'their' club, so they would not be able to officiate any conflict of interest. It happened to me, I never was allowed to be a match official either at SP or away. We were also never allowed to officiate any team that had a bearing or direct competition with Palace usually after Easter. No-one minded.

I think they still do declare their allegiance.
Didn't appreciate we were in such exalted company Eagleman!

I cannot provide an answer however 6 players have been sent off against Nottm Forest this season, 2 more than any other club.

A reference to a single game in the illustrious career of Mark Clattenburg who of course refereed in the Champions League final and the Euro 2016 final.

He has admitted he got it wrong. Easy after the event. If you are truly a Palace fan you would admit his display in 2016 was appalling

I can only re-iterate that "Clear and obvious" introduces subjectivity.
Given the proximity of both sets of legs , the position of the ball, and both players lunging towards it, clearly it was deemed that a "Clear and obvious error" had not been committed.

Subjectivity ! You mean what suits the PL. I cannot believe you will never criticise referees, on this subject you are a troll. How is the relegation doommongering going?

Nobody could possibly question by devotion to the club, having being an ardent supporter since the 60s and following the team around the country in all weathers.

Apropos the FA Cup Final, my views were articulated on HOL and I have no desire to rake over old coals.

With respect this is hogwash and phooey.
I have consistently stated that referees are human and as such err from time to time.

I suspect there is more sympathy for referees than comes across on here. We all know that many players try to lie, cheat, dive and otherwise con them, and assorted pundits don't help by congratulating them on their "professionalism" when they get away with it. The sums of money at stake in the modern game mean they will be more and more in the spotlight. Yes, they are human and will make mistakes but VAR was supposed to help them not create more controversies.
