When Potter resigned Brighton had already lined up De Zerbi.
It took about 2 months this summer for Parish to decide to go back to Roy. Why didnt our wonderful recruitment team have someone else lined up like Brighton did? Until we get rid of Parish and those American clowns we wont get near to the Europa League.

There are some complete idiots on this forum, but you are in a league of your own, 70s you sound about 12, why not take your repetitive rubbish and go and support your beloved seaweed.

They're always following us around the league like lost puppies. All we need is a choke chain so they don't get too far ahead. Presumably plenty of shops in Brighton sell them.

They have a chairman in Tony Bloom who knows his onions. Got a brilliant recruitment strategy and have employed young managers who have done very well. Our recruitment policy with Freedman has been crap. Vieira didnt come off in the end after a promising start. We should have replaced him with another young manager.

Bloom wouldnt have replaced Potter with Chris Hughton after he sacked him!! But our wonderful chairman went back to the manager he sacked.

recriutment crap? Guehi, Andersen, Doucoure, Olise ... Gallagher's loan ... and Edouarde is getting his act together... Brighton's is exceptional but what a nonsense comment!

I am less than fond of the seaweeds and think Roy has done a very good job since coming back. I thought it was a backwards step when he came in. That said it is difficult to argue against the point to Roy is a short term sticking plaster solution whereas the weeds have made two very good appointments in Potter and De Zerbi.

The proof of the pudding will be in what Parish does next to replace Roy. Are they just trying to pave the way for Paddy Mac to take over? That could work but I think a lot of fans would view that as trying to do things on the cheap (no disrespect to Paddy).

Roy has stated in his Press Conference for Fulham that he expects both teams to be competing for a top ten place - "I would expect both teams to be pushing for places in the top 10, so in that respect they are a rival, yes."

If we were to achieve that, I'd consider it a rather large step up. I understand many may not but it'd be big for me in any instance.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I suspect that not many had even heard of De Zerbi when he was appointed Brighton manager. He had managed some lesser known Italian teams and prior to arriving at the Amex had spent just over a year at Shakhtar Donetsk. He did however lead the Ukrainian team to a Super Cup win.

Its just swings and roundabouts, Brighton have won nothing, they qualified for a cup that is more a hindrance than a prize, they will eventually get relegated like everyone outside the top seven, just look at the Championship more than half of the teams had lengthy spells in the top division.

There's no magic, just money really.

Bloom is a billionaire and it's his money that has propelled them forward.

They were able to build their new ground (which Bloom financed I believe) by just ignoring the fact that a village was in Falmer and slapping it in there. We don't have that space (nor the wealth to just obliterate Sainsbury's) which makes it a lot more difficult and have had to balance a new ground v. squad investment a lot more carefully.

They've grown whilst trying to be self-sufficient, much like Parish has with us, but ultimately Bloom is covering the debts and seems happy to do so indefinitely, so they can push themselves a bit harder and faster than we can at the moment.

They've had some luck with signing and selling, take Caicedo for example, they must have bitten Chelsea's hand off when they came back with £116 million for him having only paid £4.5 million! We've had a couple of transfers that haven't worked out, but on the whole, we've had some very good ones with Eze and Olise being prime examples.

Ultimately though, Bloom is worth £1.3 billion and Parish is worth £100 million, so much deeper pockets. The American backers aren't exactly putting their hands in their pockets, so until someone comes along with the club's best interests at heart and a couple of billion in the bank, this is as good as it's going to get.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

Do we really have to "hate" Brighton just because a couple of t***s namely Venables and Mullery didn’t get on back in the day? They vented their mutual disregard for each other through their respective club fan bases and conned us all.

More to the point, Bloom is a VERY rich man who has invested massively, and seemingly wisely, in his club. Parish is equally passionate about Palace but we have the Yankee Doodles on board who will do just enough to protect their investment. We need a "sugar daddy" to buy out the Yankee Doodles but I don't think that will happen before Selhurst Park is developed. I'm sure our time will come but it may take another decade. Palace will be playing in Europe in 2034 ... you've read it here first!
