I don't want a civil conversation about the pros and cons of Brighton and Hove Albion. As far as I'm concerned, they can do one.

I expressed similar sentiments to some Brighton blithering idiot who was being disparaging about our club at a local football match.
His voice was reduced to 'Mute' after I expressed my viewpoint.

Before people get too envious of those current media darlings, there are other things to consider.

Their current success didn't happen overnight. Bloom financed a series of duff player purchases, mainly from the Dutch League, before hitting on the data driven formula that's working for them now. Bloom has absorbed all the losses then and continues to prop them up financially now.

The Amex ? A ballache to get to and from. The promised transport improvements failed to materialise. That's why even on their European debut, they had supporters sitting in coaches going back to Brighton because they were scheduled to depart earlier than the game finished ! That's why you have the mass exodus on 80 minutes as well.

Their support ? Probably the same hard core number as Palace. The rest are all fans of other clubs that see no problem in supporting two teams. Plastics.

Yes I envy their European adventure, the ability to work the transfer market as they do, and their play - at the moment.

Let's see if they can stay in the Premier League for 11 consecutive seasons.

Brighton have finished above us in the PL in the last 2 seasons, but finished below us in the previous 4 PL seasons.

They were of course not in the PL when we were ploughing our furrow at this level seasons 2016-17, 15-16, 14-15 and 13-14.

Exactly Willo.

Brighton have been below us for all of the last decade apart from the last two seasons.

Restoring our dominance sound like good motivation to me.

Star lizard obviously provides both intelligence and finance to move them up. However we have got shareholders with far deeper pockets who may be doing more than we realise. We are also led by a Palace fan who has easily the same lev l of football knowledge as Bloom. Who knows, maybe we are also a client of the Star Lizard data room.

Unfortunately they have ... to the next level, Europe, top 8, bought and sold to vast profit etc.

But I get your general drift.

More progressive ownership.
Bigger stadium.
Better scouting network.
Manager who has a system, switches players in and out and bloods youngsters and new acquisitions.
I don't expect it will last long-term, but they seem to have more ambition than survival each year.

We cant get one new stand built, a decent right back, or a half reasonable striker. Bought a reserve keeper instead. Owners not interested in moving things forward, more interested in being part of a consortia to takeover Chelsea - says it all.

Ok this may upset a few but as they are about to embark on a European adventure, it seems that Brighton by pretty much any measure are pulling way ahead of us.

They are cementing their reputation earned last season as a tough team to beat, they are soaring up the league and staying there. That have stability, they seem to buy players for buttons then sell them on at a huge profit only to unearth a better option for less buttons.

Ok we have been in the league longer and we have a great academy (even if we seem to not be seeing the results in terms of the first team right now.

What are they doing right that we are not?

They have been building this for years. In my obviously biased eyes, I believe we should be getting more plaudits than them. The reason being is we didn’t really plan for anything. We put a team of youth, loans, freebies and snips together and somehow got promotion, beating them by the way in the process. Then somehow this team of misfits stayed up and the rest is history. We have at least half the team now of star players that the top 6 would all snap up given the chance.

Let Brighton enjoy their time in the sun, it did take them 30 years to catch up. They only really got to Europe because some of the big boys flopped. Hopefully some will flop again and we will be there this time getting into Europe.

It took Brighton awhile to get it right. They did spend alot of money initially on players which simply didn't work out.

To think they would have been relegated had WE not beaten Cardiff that season.
